About This Position
Part-time faculty are professional, credentialed educators with the primary responsibility of providing quality learning experience for all Robeson Community College students. Part-time faculty plan, organize, teach, and assess courses and student learning in assigned courses. Part-time faculty also participate in selection of appropriate course materials and creation and assessment of student learning outcomes.

Instruction
- Planning and organizing educational programs approved by the RCC Board of Trustees, the North Carolina Community College System, and other accrediting entities.
- Identifying and/or developing instructional materials to teach the program competencies prescribed in the approved curriculum by Robeson Community College, the North Carolina Community College System, and other accrediting entities.
- Maintaining course materials and resources in a learning management system
- Utilizing the course description outlined in the North Carolina Community College System common course library when developing or assessing student learning outcomes.
- Developing appropriate assessments of established learning outcomes for all courses taught.
- Reporting student progress in mastering established learning outcomes based on identified and approved assessments.
- Implementing and providing effective instruction demonstrating appropriate knowledge of his/her specialized field following best practice literature.
- Administering appropriate assessment and/or testing to measure student learning outcomes in all courses.
Coordination
- Assisting with administering classroom, lab, and/or practical courses to meet program needs, including day, evening, weekend, and online courses.
- Evaluating student(s) and faculty progress and providing appropriate feedback
- Assisting in the recruitment and orientation of new instructors.
- Assisting in scheduling and setting up of classes, scheduling, and clinical coordination to include but not limited to scheduling of students and instructors to clinical sites
- Participating in activities necessary to maintain program compliance with regulatory agencies
- Assisting in the evaluation of courses and programs
- Preparing and submitting instructional records, reports, and grades established by institutional policy
- Working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and external agencies
- Assisting in student recruitment, orientation, and retention
- Maintaining appropriate office hours and accessibility for students, faculty, and staff
- Performing other tasks as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the College
- Maintaining appropriate classroom standards that include the effective management of students in the classroom and the management of classroom and lab facilities.
- Identifying and/or recommending equipment needed to teach the learning outcomes prescribed in the approved curriculum by the RCC Board of Trustees, the North Carolina Community College System, and accrediting entities.
- Maintaining compliance with established North Carolina Community College System performance measures, national benchmarks, etc., for the appropriate curriculum prescribed by the North Carolina Community College System and accrediting entities.
- Providing timely and accurate reports, including grade reports and other required reports related to instruction.
Program Development
- Interacting with the program advisory committee to determine state-of-the-art practices, procedures, and equipment related to maintaining an up-to-date instructional program
- Monitoring professional information sources to determine trends and innovations in one’s field that lend themselves to integration into the instructional program.
- Participating in professional development to enhance instructional and technical skills and to remain current with knowledge, changes, and new technology in the Nurse Aide field
Student Support
- Being available to students for out-of-class tutorial support in the courses he or she is assigned to teach.
- Refer students to student services for guidance, counseling, and resource assistance following prescribed procedures on an as-needed basis.
- Supporting retention strategies with the appropriate program faculty, Program Director, appropriate administration, and Student Services personnel to maximize student retention.
- Providing placement assistance to completers of the assigned program.
Institutional Support
- Assisting with implementing and enforcing all official policies and procedures of RCC.
- Striving to exhibit a personal and professional deportment that reflects positively upon the individual and the public perception of the community college.
- Participating in the activities to maintain programmatic and institutional accreditation.
Public Relations Support
- Maintaining effective intra-institution relationships with members of the Board of Trustees, the President’s Senior Staff, Administrative Staff, faculty, and support personnel of the service area.
- Providing appropriate liaison support with the North Carolina Community College System and other relational entities.
- Promoting Robeson Community College with local, state, regional, and national citizenry.
- Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution, two years of direct patient care as a registered nurse (demonstrating acute medical-

• "prior to or within the first three years of employment, have education in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, appropriate to faculty assignment."

- surgical experience), and a current, unrestricted registered nurse license in North Carolina are required.
- Applicants must be able to meet the physical and emotional demands in all aspects of nursing care, maintain current knowledge and competence in nursing practice, and have the ability to maintain a positive, collaborative working relationship with students, staff, faculty, and representatives from various health care professions and settings.
- Well-developed clinical, technical, computer, organization, time management, and communication skills are necessary.
- We seek flexible, adaptable, optimistic, and goal-oriented applicants who can establish and maintain effective, civil, and respectful interpersonal relations in a student-centered, team-focused approach.
- Primary responsibilities occur during the days, Monday through Friday; however, applicants must be available to teach or attend activities on evenings, weekends, and at off-campus locations and to attend out-of-town meetings as needed. Two (2) years of full-time experience as a faculty member in a board-approved nursing program is recommended.
- Meet the education requirements for Nurse Education as outlined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing within the first three years of employment, which includes preparation in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation appropriate to the assignment. This preparation may be demonstrated by one of the following:
- (1) completion of 45 contact hours of continuing education courses;
- (2) completion of a certificate program in nursing education;
- (3) nine semester hours of graduate course work;
- (4) national certification in nursing education; or
- (5) documentation of successful completion of structured, individualized development activities of at least 45 contact hours approved by the NC Board of Nursing
- Current knowledge of nursing practice for the registered nurse and the licensed practical nurse
