Job Summary
Quality Inspectors will monitor the quality of incoming and outgoing parts
Essential Duties and Functions
Incoming Inspection and Testing
Inspect and test incoming materials, in-process and finished product per established procedures
Perform inspections in a timely manner to meet production scheduling and customer order requirements
Correctly set up and operate production testing equipment according to instructions
Have ability to review specifications on computer database
Complaint and Product Return Investigations
Receive, inspect and test product returns following standard procedures, including returns for evaluations, customer complaints, and repair
Notify supervisor when new failure modes or new trends arise
Nonconforming Product
Ensure materials or products not meeting specified requirements are withheld from use in manufacturing or distribution pending final disposition
Document nonconforming product identified at incoming or during manufacturing details and disposition decisions
Assemble various electrical components and subassemblies to produce pumps for powered mattresses
Perform testing as defined by procedures and work instructions to ensure product is being made properly and conforms to quality standards
Correctly set up and operate testing equipment according to instructions
Maintain cycle count of parts and notify supervisor when count is low
Perform product repairs for customer returns following standard procedures
Ensure records for all activities performed are documented accurately and completely
Ensure records are reviewed and signed-off by supervisor and maintained in an orderly fashion
Verify that product is being made properly and conforms to quality standards and specifications
Work with Production to identify process failures and/or potential improvements
Conducting regular Production audits to confirm quality checks are being performed as specified
Reviewing work instructions to ensure they are accurate and being followed
Assessing processes to identify potential improvements to quality and efficiency
Support the Quality Policy, Quality System, and follow established procedures
Propose changes to existing procedures through supervisor, understanding that changes cannot be implemented prior to formal approval in the Quality System
Perform other duties as assigned by supervision

Mechanically inclined, preferably with experience using electronic and pneumatic equipment
Knowledge of quality system requirements, such as ISO, FDA, etc. preferred
Experience in the operation of inspections equipment (micrometers, calipers, etc.)

Education, Experience & Training
High School degree or GED preferred
1 + years manufacturing employment preferred
If experience is at Span-America, performance appraisal with minimal overall rating of expected for previous year and satisfactory attendance
Working knowledge of Microsoft word and excel preferred
Work Environment/Physical Demands
This position requires lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds
Position may require standing and occasional sitting, bending, climbing, crawling, crouching, kneeling, overhead lifting, pushing/pulling, reaching, squatting, twisting, and standing/walking on concrete floors
