About the role
The Senior I&C Technician is the top field specialist and technical authority for instrumentation and controls execution. This role leads complex troubleshooting and recovery efforts, defines and enforces field execution standards, mentors and signs off technician competency, and supports planning, sequencing, and risk readiness for critical milestones. The Senior I&C Technician plays a key role during commissioning, outages, and recovery events and serves as a trusted client-facing leader in high-pressure environments.
What you'll do
- Serve as the senior I&C authority on assigned projects and recovery events
- Lead complex troubleshooting involving systemic or repeat faults, control power issues, and device-network interface problems
- Provide calm, structured leadership during commissioning, outages, and recoveries
2) Standards Definition and Enforcement
- Define and enforce field execution standards, including wiring practices, grounding and shielding, labeling, checkout discipline, and documentation
- Ensure consistent, high-quality workmanship across sites and crews
- Drive disciplined documentation practices that support commissioning, maintenance, and long-term reliability
3) Commissioning and Recovery Leadership
- Lead commissioning recoveries and critical milestone events
- Support planning, sequencing, and risk readiness activities related to I&C execution
- Coordinate effectively with controls engineering and project leadership during high-risk execution windows
4) Mentorship and Capability Development
- Mentor I&C technicians across levels and review field work for quality and completeness
- Perform technician competency evaluations and sign-offs
- Set expectations for professional field conduct, safety, and client interaction
5) Client Interface and Professional Representation
- Act as a senior client-facing representative during critical field activities
- Communicate clearly and professionally under pressure
- Protect client uptime and operational continuity through disciplined execution
Qualifications Required / Strongly Preferred Technical Background
- Expert diagnostic capability across instrumentation and controls interfaces
- Deep understanding of field execution standards for ICS environments
- Strong leadership presence and ability to direct teams during critical events
- Disciplined documentation and safety practices
- Calm, professional decision-making under pressure
Qualifications
- Typically 8–12+ years of I&C field experience in industrial or OT/ICS environments
- Equivalent competency accepted in lieu of formal degree
Training & Certifications
- OSHA 30
- NFPA 70E
- Advanced troubleshooting methodology
- Incident leadership and commissioning recovery readiness
- Demonstrated capability in training and standard setting
Licenses & Screening
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass background and drug screening per client and site requirements
