About the Role:
As an Occupational Therapist within the Health Care and Social Assistance industry, you will play a critical role in enhancing the quality of life for patients by enabling them to perform daily activities independently and safely. You will assess patients' physical, emotional, and environmental needs to develop personalized rehabilitation plans that promote recovery and functional ability. This role requires close collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care that aligns with home care regulations and ethical standards. You will also be responsible for managing home care services, ensuring compliance with relevant policies, and adapting therapeutic interventions to meet the evolving needs of geriatric and other patient populations. Ultimately, your work will contribute to improved patient outcomes, increased autonomy, and a higher standard of home health care delivery across diverse settings in the United States.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Licensed Occupational Therapist credential valid in the United States.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Demonstrated knowledge of home health care regulations and ethical standards.
- Experience in conducting home care needs assessments and developing rehabilitation plans.
- Strong understanding of geriatric rehabilitation and physical therapy principles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in geriatric occupational therapy or related specialty.
- Experience working in home care or community-based health settings.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems used in home health care.
- Additional training or certification in physical therapy techniques.
- Proven ability to manage interdisciplinary care teams and coordinate complex home care services.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough homecare needs assessments to evaluate patients' functional abilities and environmental factors.
- Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans focused on rehabilitation and physical therapy goals.
- Manage and coordinate home care services in compliance with home care regulations and ethical guidelines.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physical therapists, nurses, and social workers to optimize patient care.
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic techniques, adaptive equipment, and strategies to support independence.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly to ensure effective rehabilitation outcomes.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reports in accordance with healthcare standards and regulatory requirements.

The required skills such as Home Care Management and Home Care Regulations are essential for ensuring that all therapeutic interventions comply with legal and ethical standards while meeting patient needs. Home Health Care Knowledge and Homecare Needs Assessment skills enable the therapist to accurately evaluate patient environments and capabilities, tailoring rehabilitation plans effectively. Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy expertise are applied daily to design and implement interventions that restore or enhance patient function. Geriatric Rehabilitation skills are particularly important for addressing the unique challenges faced by elderly patients, promoting safety and independence in their homes.
