Catering Event Manager at Lee Epting Catering INC – Athens, Georgia

Epting Events is a family business inspired by the distinct personality of the Southeast and we have stitched together a patchwork of friendly, professional, and creative individuals; among us are chefs, bartenders, gardeners, florists, musicians, painters, filmmakers, and historians. We are a team seeking someone with strong leadership skills and catering experience to oversee events.

Description of Position

The Event Manager executes the event: they oversee production from start to finish to ensure client satisfaction. Managing a successful event requires attention to detail, pep in the step, and a constant smile on your face. This person will be the primary day-of contact with clients and is expected to reflect the hospitality, professionalism, and southern charm that is Epting Events. Alongside the production and warehouse teams, they pull catering equipment ahead of time and help load/unload vans. They work closely with our kitchen staff to know the food being served and with the sales team to exceed client expectations. Event Managers see their events through from pull sheet to party clean up. Pay will be commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities and Tasks

• Oversee the production team for multiple events and prioritize tasks to ensure the client is receiving the best experience
• Meet with Sales team to discuss events and address areas of emphasis
• Review and approve timelines, service/travel estimates, and equipment pull sheets
• Pull appropriate catering equipment ahead of events
• Work closely with the Executive Chef and in-house kitchen staff to ensure all food/serving equipment is taken to the events
• Be able to drive a 16-26 foot box truck and repeatedly lift 50+ pounds
• Travel to events and lead the catering crew in executing a successful event
• Attend regular Epting Events training sessions to improve the client food experience
• Represent the Epting brand in a manner that draws in new clients; a positive, professional demeanor is expected at all times
• Be prepared to work evenings and weekends; 40-65 hours per week during peak seasons
• Report to the Owner
