Nexus Family Healing is looking to hire an MTSS Interventionist to join our outstanding team in Onarga, IL!
Nexus Family Healing at Onarga is located approximately 30 miles south of Kankakee and 45 miles north of Champaign-Urbana, just a few miles off of I-57 on a historic site in Onarga, Illinois. This location provides boys ages 10 to 20 years old a structured, homelike environment where they can safely address a variety of unhealthy behaviors and mental health issues as well as childhood trauma.

Pay and Schedule:
- Full-time on-site opportunity M-F 7am-3:30pm
- Location: 110 North Locust, Onarga, IL 60955
- Year-round school through the summer with holidays off & pre-scheduled paid break weeks off
- 8 additional days of paid time off per calendar year provided for new employees
- Starting at $21-24 per hour!

Position Summary: The MTSS Interventionist provides direct intervention and progress monitoring for students who need support in reading, math, behavior, and social-emotional learning (SEL). Responsible for assisting with the development of a systematic school-wide approach to MTSS. Activities may include coordinating classroom intervention programs, providing curriculum and instructional support to teachers, including effective intervention strategies, and implementing specialized services to meet the needs of each student.
Primary responsibilities:
- Coordinate and implement academic and social-emotional interventions for students needing Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports.
- Use student data to identify intervention needs, develop and maintain intervention plans, and monitor progress in the intervention management system.
- Review intervention effectiveness with school leadership and adjust supports as needed.
- Support and train instructional staff on the MTSS framework, including coaching individuals and groups using best-practice strategies.
- Deliver research-based interventions to students individually and in small groups.
- Collaborate with program and classroom staff to support student progress and positive learning environments.
- Serve as a mentor and role model for students, balancing compassion with clear accountability.
- Participate in faculty/staff meetings, IEPs, case conferences, and required professional development; support Nexus treatment philosophy and modalities.
Work Environment:
- Must be able to assist staff in physical and non-physical interventions with residents.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100+ pounds with assistance.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time (2-4 hours).
- Must be able to twist, bend and stretch in a manner conducive to the execution of daily activities within a school.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum one (1) year experience in a school, day treatment, or residential treatment setting preferred.
- Illinois: Paraprofessional Licensure through ISBE (Illinois State Board of Education) or willing to obtain within three (3) months of employment.
- Knowledge and experience with Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) techniques.
- Valid driver’s license required. Must meet state regulating agency and Home Office driving requirements.
- Must have the ability to build strong relationships with diverse individuals or communities and understand their unique needs and challenges.
- Must be open to meeting the cultural needs of individuals or communities, considering factors such as language, traditions, and values.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Illinois: Have or be eligible to obtain an Illinois substitute teacher license, LBS-1 Licensure.
- Illinois: MHP eligible in the state of IL preferred (MHP qualifications)
