About This Position
The Maintenance Mechanic performs installations, repair, and preventive maintenance on electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, and boiler equipment. Inspects and tests emergency generators and associated circuitry to ensure proper operation.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Inspects all types of heating, cooling, and air conditioning equipment to spot minor problems before they become major ones.
- Performs preventive maintenance on all types of physical plant equipment.
- Repairs, installs, replaces and tests electrical equipment and circuits using hand tools and testing instruments.
- Inspects and tests the hospital emergency generator to assure compliance with applicable codes.
- Rotates as assigned to help with a specific activity or to assist a particular person in accomplishing plant maintenance or materials responsibilities.
- Acts as a security officer during regular working hours.
- Carries out other duties as directed.
Education:
One year special course training or on-the-job training required. High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
Physical plant experience preferred. Extensive specific work-related experience may be considered in lieu of special course training requirement.
Licensure/Certification:
Plumber's license and Driver's license required.
