One (1) Full-time Vacancy
40 Hours per week: Monday through Friday
Grade F: Hourly Rate Range: $25.62-$33.61
Anticipated Hiring Hourly Rate Range: $25.62-$28.99
DEFINITION:
Position is responsible for performing technical work in connection with the implementation, repairs and support of the City’s IT systems (which include all City departments, Public Safety departments, and the City’s School System).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
High school degree, or equivalent and at least one to two years of direct experience in a computer technical or desktop support role or a related position with Windows, client-server, networking and personal computer systems experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience, required. An Associate college degree or CompTIA certification preferred.
Required to have acceptable CORI background report
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY, AND SKILLS:
Knowledge: Knowledge of more than one current operating system, including Microsoft Windows for client computers and Microsoft Windows for servers. Knowledge of client-server and PC-based systems. Knowledge of Linux Server operating systems. Knowledge of network technologies.
Abilities: Ability to prioritize IT support requests and to manage several projects simultaneously in a timely fashion; ability to work as part of a team as well as independently. Ability to learn new technologies and software quickly and independently without formal training. Ability to create and maintain documentation of the systems supported.
Skills: Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective written and verbal communications and working relationships with co-workers, department heads, department staff, vendors and others inside and outside the IT Department; organizational skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical Skills: Administrative work is performed in an office setting and requires sitting, standing, and walking. When in the field, it may require some agility and physical strength, such as moving in or about construction sites or over rough terrain or standing or walking most of the work period. Occasionally, work may require lifting heavy objects and carrying them (up to 50 lbs.). There may be a need to stretch and reach to retrieve materials.
Motor Skills: The work may involve assignments requiring the application of hand and eye coordination with finger dexterity and motor coordination.
Visual Skills: Essential position functions require the ability to view computer screens for extended periods of time. In addition, essential position functions require good close/distant, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
