We’re looking for a Phlebotomy Technician who understands the critical role of showing up on time, every time, to deliver compassionate care. What You’ll Do:

  • Collect and process specimens from patients in an outpatient setting.
  • Frequently collect blood specimens via venipuncture and capillary collection.
  • Collect and/or provide patient instructions for urine, nasal and nasopharyngeal swabs, stool, and sputum specimens.
  • Collect reference lab specimens according to specimen requirements.
  • Perform CLIA-waived testing using glucometers, maintaining proper quality control and testing procedures.
  • Manage inventory of phlebotomy and reference lab supplies, ensuring draw rooms are stocked.
  • Clean and maintain phlebotomy draw rooms and lobby as required.
  • Receive and process written and electronic orders from physicians and clinic staff.
  • Use computer hardware, laboratory information software, and associated devices.
  • Stay current in the field through literature, workshops, seminars, or online continuing education.
  • Help train new employees and students as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

What You Bring:

  • High school diploma or GED, required.
  • At least two years of phlebotomy experience and a customer service background, preferred.
  • The ability to work independently following established procedures and policies.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail – accuracy is critical to patient care.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, management, staff, and contacts outside the organization.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to communicate clearly in person, over the phone, and via written means. Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens. This position requires sufficient tactile sensitivity, manual dexterity, and fine motor skills to accurately palpate veins and safely perform venipuncture and specimen collection. Requires occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, and sitting. Must be able to position patients and equipment safely. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for extended periods and to work in an environment that may be fast-paced and stressful. Ability to understand and effectively work in Microsoft Outlook, practice management systems, laboratory applications, and electronic medical record systems.

Typical Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a laboratory environment. Frequent contact with patients with the purpose of collecting specimens. Frequent exposure to needles and body fluids. Some exposure to potentially hazardous equipment, caustic chemicals and infectious conditions.
