Hawaiʻi Island Community Health Center (HICHC) is seeking a School‑Based Patient Services Representative (PSR) to join our School‑Based Health team. This is an excellent entry‑level opportunity for individuals interested in healthcare, customer service, or administrative support—especially those who enjoy working with students and families in a school setting.
The School‑Based PSR is often the first point of contact for students, parents, school staff, and visitors. In this role, you’ll help create a welcoming, supportive environment while ensuring patients are connected to the care they need. No medical background is required—just strong communication skills, professionalism, and a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities- Greet and check in students and patients for scheduled and walk‑in appointments
- Register new patients and update demographic, health, and insurance information
- Schedule, confirm, reschedule, and cancel appointments
- Answer phones and route calls to appropriate staff
- Maintain accurate patient records and visit documentation
- Assist patients with Sliding Fee Scale applications and insurance referrals
- Respond to MyChart messages, texts, and voicemails
- Provide professional, friendly customer service to students, families, and school staff
- Support daily clinic operations as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months to one year of related experience (customer service, office work, reception, or similar)
- Basic computer and office skills, including accurate data entry
- Ability to multitask in a busy environment
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to follow instructions, meet deadlines, and work as part of a team
- Sensitivity to diverse cultures and communities (bilingual skills are a plus)
