MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Current NYS Registration for LPN (copy required upon hire)
- Valid New York State Driver’s License
- Yearly physical (required within 1 month after hire)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to administer medications
- Ability to work with a diverse population presenting a variety of cultural, socioeconomic, developmental and sexual identities. Must have the ability and willingness to establish and foster healthy and supportive relationships that acknowledge individual identities and encourage personal growth.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with adolescent teens

- Must successfully complete all required background checks:
- NYS Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR)
- Multi-State Sex Offender Registry (SOR)
- NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) fingerprinting
- NYS Justice Center Staff Exclusion List (SEL)
- NYS OMIG Medicaid Exclusion List
- Out-of-state child abuse register inquiry of any state in which the person resided within the last five years (if applicable)
- NYS License Event Notification Service (LENS)
- Office of Inspector General (OIG)
- NYS Professions – Professional License Check
- Must successfully complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)

- Weekend Availability
- Must be flexible to meet the needs of the program
SALARY
$36/hour
OBJECTIVES OF POSITION
- To assist the RN in providing high quality nursing care and health education to the residents of The William George Agency
- To assist the RN in medication administration
- To assist the RN in developing health/safety related plans for the residents and staff
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain documentation in a medical record for each child at The William George Agency in accordance with established practices and NYS OCFS regulations
- Administer medications to residents at cottages, school or other designated areas as directed by nursing supervisor.
- Conduct appropriate medical and health examinations as directed by Medical Director/Nursing Supervisor or stipulated by NYS OCFS regulations.
- Assist in staff physical exams to include BP and maintain written records for medical clinic/personnel
- Perform tasks as assigned by supervising nurse to insure optimum functioning of the Medical Health Clinic. These tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Maintaining inventory of medical supplies/equipment
- Routine housekeeping duties to maintain building
- Scheduling/transporting residents to medical trips as ordered by physician. Staff nurse must use WGA vehicle (except for special circumstances)
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Medical Director or Nursing Supervisor
- Responsible for adhering to and performing all duties in accordance with every safety standard, practice and policy of The William George Agency; this includes, but is not limited to, review of The William George Agency's Safety Policy and attending all required safety related training
- Adhere to all rules, regulations, policies and philosophy of The William George Agency and The Office of Children and Family Services

POSITION LEVEL: Responsible to the Nursing Supervisor for medical issues and administrative matters and responsible to the Supervising Nurse on Duty for nursing issues

The William George Agency for Children’s Services is located on a 650-acre campus nine miles northeast of Ithaca, in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State. It is a private not-for-profit residential treatment center licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) that serves both male and female youth between the ages of 12 and 21, and their families, who present with significant mental health issues, behavioral difficulties, and substance abuse issues. Our programs offer an array of treatment modalities specifically designed to meet the needs of our youth.
