The Opportunity: The Sobering Centre Wellness Worker is responsible for supporting clients accessing the Sobering Centre by providing a safe, trauma informed and welcoming environment where a person who is intoxicated due to alcohol and/or substances use may be able to stay as an alternative to incarceration for public intoxication, or inappropriate hospital admission through the Emergency Department.
- Screens individuals to determine eligibility as per the criteria and completes intake
- Provides an initial assessment of the needs of the client
- Provides sobering stabilization in a structured, substance free environment that includes trauma informed and culturally safe care
- Facilitates connection to substance use services, day treatment programs and other community services and supports, including mutual aid groups

What You Will Bring to The Role:
- Two-year Social Services Diploma preferred
- Certification with the Indigenous Certification Board of Canada an asset
- Minimum of Minimum 3-6 months recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Wage Range: The target hiring range for this position is $25.67 to $33.24 per hour. Candidates will typically be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the wage range. Placement within the wage range is dependent on the applicants’ role specific knowledge, skills, abilities, related experience and in consideration of factors such as market conditions and internal equity.
