Economic Development & Research Specialist

Reports to: Senior Manager of Economic Development

Position Overview
The Economic Development & Research Specialist provides administrative, operational, and research support to advance Metro Denver EDC’s business attraction, retention, and expansion efforts across the twelve-county region.
This role is responsible for maintaining core economic development systems, supporting project and prospect coordination, preparing business development materials, and ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of business recruitment activities. The specialist supports the execution of economic development strategies by maintaining data integrity, coordinating internal and external activities, and ensuring the team has the information and materials needed to successfully pursue and manage projects.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative & Operational Coordination
- Maintain and support the day-to-day operational workflow of the economic development team.
- Coordinate calendars, meetings, agendas, materials, and follow-up action items for business development activities.
- Support tracking of recruitment trips, partner meetings, and outreach campaigns.
- Maintain internal project trackers, timelines, and task lists to ensure deadlines and deliverables are met.
- Assist with operational tasks related to contracts, purchase orders, invoices, and partner agreements.
- Support preparation of internal updates, leadership briefings, and board materials.
CRM, Reporting & Data Management
- Maintain Salesforce CRM data integrity across accounts, contacts, projects, campaigns, and committees.
- Enter and track prospect activity, outreach, meeting outcomes, and project milestones.
- Generate recurring and ad hoc reports on pipeline activity, outreach metrics, and project outcomes.
- Maintain internal databases and recurring data products used for business development and reporting.
- Support documentation of business development processes and standard operating procedures.
Business Development & Proposal Support
- Support preparation of proposals, RFI responses, prospect briefing packets, and marketing materials.
- Compile research, data tables, maps, and partner information for business recruitment efforts.
- Assist in preparing informational packets for companies evaluating expansion or relocation.
- Support coordination of prospect alerts and partner communications.
Research & Market Intelligence Support
- Collect, organize, and maintain economic, labor market, and demographic data from federal, state, and local sources.
- Support development of industry snapshots, workforce summaries, and regional data content.
- Assist with research needed for sector campaigns, proposals, and partner requests.
- Translate basic data findings into charts, tables, and presentation-ready visuals.
Events, Partnerships & Initiative Support
- Provide administrative and coordination support for signature initiatives, recruitment trips, and industry events.
- Assist with logistics,transportation,partner coordination, materials preparation, and post-event follow-up.
- Support cross-functional initiatives including industry coalitions and innovation ecosystem programs
- Support Metro Denver EDC team hosting on-site and off-site meetings and events, including communications, registrations, set-up/tear-down,logistics and vendor management.
Required Skills, Competencies & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Economics, Business, Public Policy, Economic Development, or related field.
- 1–4 years of experience in administrative coordination, project support, economic development, research support, or similar role.

Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, SharePoint).
- Experience working in CRM systems such as Salesforce preferred.
- Familiarity with economic data sources or research tools is a plus but not required.

Role Alignment
This role serves as a core operational and administrative partner to the Senior Manager of Economic Development, ensuring business development activities are well-coordinated, accurately tracked, and supported by timely data and materials. The position plays a critical role in maintaining internal systems and enabling the team to deliver measurable economic outcomes.
Compensation: $ 26.00 per hour
