Project Manager Lead Commercial Structural Steel Erection and Fabrication
Job Overview:
Company: R&S Steel, LLC.
Salary/Pay Rate: $70,000 - $75,000 per year plus Year-End Bonus.
Location: Hybrid (Based in Rome, NY).
Job/Employment Type: Full-Time.
Schedule: Monday Friday, Overtime as required.
Project Scope: Commercial Steel Fabricating & Erecting.
Mandatory Licenses & Certifications: Valid Driver's License, OSHA Certification.
The Opportunity: You will serve as a pivotal leader at R&S Steel, directing high-stakes commercial construction projects from initial planning through successful field erection. This role offers the autonomy to manage complex structural workflows while being supported by a leadership team that values work-life balance and long-term career pathing. You will make a tangible impact by ensuring every beam and bolt meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and budgetary precision.
How You Will Make an Impact:
Directed all phases of project planning and coordination to ensure goals for time, budget, and safety are met consistently.
Coordinated seamless communication between suppliers, subcontractors, and detailers to guarantee timely delivery of materials to the field.
Analyzed project proposals and detailed drawings to define scope and develop comprehensive work plans for fabrication and erection.
Managed the financial health of projects by developing schedules of values and ensuring accurate, timely billing cycles.
Formulated factual documentation for change orders and RFIs to resolve technical or logistical disputes and prevent project delays.
Supervised field activity and job site crews indirectly to enforce strict adherence to PPE and OSHA safety protocols.
Cultivated strong professional relationships with clients and regulatory agencies through regular attendance at project meetings and transparent reporting.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum of 35 years of dedicated experience in Structural Steel project management or field leadership.
Proven proficiency in reading and interpreting fabrication and structural steel erection drawings.
Demonstrated experience in construction estimating and managing the RFI and Change Order process.
Advanced technical skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and construction management software.
Solid understanding of Construction Contracts, Sub-Contracts, and the legalities of project documentation.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
Direct experience with field erection and structural steel site activity.
OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification or specialized crane and rigging training.
Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or CCM (Certified Construction Manager).
