Production Assembly

Classification – FT Hourly

Reports to – Assembly Supervisor

Job Description

Summary/Objective

The Production Assembly position is responsible for assembling products or components based on technical specifications and work orders. This position requires attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Assembly Person will work closely with team members and supervisors to ensure that all assembly tasks are completed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with quality standards. Familiarity with assembly tools, safety protocols, and assembly line processes is essential for this role.

Essential Functions

  1. Assemble products or components according to detailed work instructions, technical drawings, or blueprints.
  2. Inspect parts, subassemblies, and finished products to ensure quality standards and specifications are met.
  3. Operate hand tools, power tools, and assembly machinery to complete assembly tasks.
  4. Organize and prepare materials for assembly, ensuring all components are available and meet specifications.
  5. Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  6. Work with team members to meet production goals and deadlines.
  7. Assist with quality control inspections and testing of assembled products to ensure proper functionality.
  8. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on assembly tools and equipment.
  9. Accurately complete production documentation, including inventory logs and quality control checklists.
  10. Report any issues or defects to supervisors and work together to resolve them.
  11. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance assembly processes and efficiency.

Competencies

  1. Proven experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
  2. Strong knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and assembly machinery.
  3. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, or assembly instructions.
  4. Basic knowledge of quality control procedures and inspection methods.
  5. Ability to troubleshoot and solve assembly issues as they arise.
  6. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  8. Familiarity with production tracking and inventory systems.
  9. Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to teamwork.
  10. Physical stamina to handle repetitive tasks and lift components up to 50 pounds when necessary.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This role operates in a job shop manufacturing setting, with regular exposure to moving machinery, coolant, and industrial noise. Proper PPE must be worn at all times.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires standing, bending, and manual handling of materials. Lifting of parts up to 50 pounds may be required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Hours are typically Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime or weekend work to meet production deadlines.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Proven experience in an assembly role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  3. Basic understanding of assembly processes and tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Minimum 2 years of experience in an assembly or production setting.
  2. Experience with basic quality control and inspection procedures.
  3. Certification in assembly processes or manufacturing-related fields is a plus.
  4. Knowledge of bar code scanning systems and production tracking tools.
  5. Familiarity with ergonomic work practices and safety standards.
