As a Senior Construction Inspector at WSB, you'll be at the forefront of our mission, supporting inspectors and engineers across various functional areas such as construction inspection, surveying, and roadway design. You'll delve into complex inspections, ensuring materials and processes meet our high standards, while also contributing to contract documentation and participating in key project meetings. You will act as a consultant regarding work progress and problem resolution and/or provides technical assistance and training in support of implementation, oversight and review of Site Manager activities. Trains others. May lead the work of professional and technical employees.

What You'll Do:

  • Manage construction management functions for roadway and bridge projects, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, quality, and safety standards.
  • Conduct independent and routine inspections of construction work, monitoring traffic control, phasing, materials, and workmanship.
  • Perform engineering-related analysis, calculations, data collection, plan review, and inspections in support of project delivery.
  • Maintain accurate construction records, including field measurements, reports, correspondence, monthly/final estimates, and payment recommendations.
  • Review and recommend change orders, extra work orders, and supplemental agreements; resolve plan and specification interpretation issues.
  • Participate in project meetings and coordination efforts, serve as a project lead when assigned, and train or mentor less experienced inspectors.

What You'll Bring: Minimum Training and Experience Requirements:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology (4year curriculum) or Construction Management (4-year curriculum) Or degree in Civil Engineering Technology (2year curriculum) or Construction Management (2 year curriculum) and two (2) years of progressive transportation technical experience as an employee or consultant for a State Highway Agency. Or High School Diploma or GED and three (10) years of progressive transportation technician experience as an employee or consultant for a State Highway Agency; or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience.  

OR

  • 10+ years of TxDOT (and/or progressive transportation experience as an employee or consultant for a State Highway Agency) required. 15+ years preferred. Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid Drivers License
  • TXDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification.
  • TXDOT Worksite Erosion Control Supervisor (WECS).
  • TXDOT Work Zone Traffic Control
