About This Position
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Marketing & Communications is responsible for leading brand, content and communications strategy and development. This critical role leads design and communications teams, and partners cross-functionally on integrated marketing campaigns to drive growth across commercial construction segments. This role blends strategic leadership with execution, ensuring the company’s value proposition is clearly communicated to contractors, architects, engineers, distributors, and owners.
This role oversees brand positioning, storytelling, and multi-channel campaign planning to support demand generation, customer engagement, and market expansion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that aligns with and supports overall business objectives and growth targets.
- Advise executive leadership on marketing-related matters and contribute to long-range planning for brand positioning and market expansion.
- Identify and define key performance indicators for the marketing function; assess organizational success and competitive positioning based on these metrics.
- Engage and influence senior management and cross-functional leaders to build alignment on marketing priorities, investment, and go-to-market strategies.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to define the organization’s market identity and ensure the brand supports the long-term mission and growth strategy.
BRAND STRATEGY & COMMUNICATIONS:
- Own and evolve the company’s brand positioning, messaging architecture, and voice across all customer segments.
- Align communications goals across buying cycles, brand campaigns, PR, social channels, product marketing and customer communications.
- Ensure consistency of brand identity across digital, print, product marketing, trade shows, and sales materials.
- Lead corporate communications, including thought leadership, PR, executive visibility, and industry engagement.
- Partner with product, sales, and executive leadership to translate technical capabilities into compelling market narratives.
- Manage agency relationships and external partners.
CONTENT STRATEGY & DEVELOPMENT:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy aligned to the buyer journey (awareness, consideration, specification, purchase).
- Oversee creation of high-value content including case studies, technical documentation, white papers, videos, and project profiles.
- Define and partner on transformation efforts (reimagining workflows, processes and technology use) within the team that support content scale-up and content operations
- Partner across marketing and sales to maximize distribution of key assets that support the buying and sales cycles.
- Ensure content supports key audiences such as architects, specifiers, general contractors, and channel partners.
- Drive SEO and digital content performance to increase visibility in specification-driven markets.
- Establish editorial calendars and governance processes to ensure consistent output and quality.
CAMPAIGN & SALES ENABLEMENT:
- Partner on integrated campaign strategy to support pipeline growth, vertical market penetration, product launch, and revenue growth.
- Align and optimize campaign performance with sales priorities, including key accounts and strategic distribution partners.
- Develop messaging and assets that support specification selling and long sales cycles typical in construction markets.
- Support account-based marketing (ABM) initiatives targeting key developers, contractors, and design firms.
- Oversee collateral and programs that strengthen distributor and channel engagement.
TEAM LEADERSHIP:
- Develop, coach, mentor and provide performance feedback to foster individual growth and team excellence.
- Build and sustain a collaborative, high-performance team culture aligned with company values.
- Manage marketing communications budget and resource allocation across the team.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
- Supports and models STARC Systems values and mission.
- Includes other duties as assigned that are relevant to the role and in support of company needs.

- Contribution to pipeline growth and revenue through marketing campaigns.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in B2B marketing.
- Experience in manufacturing, building materials, or commercial construction industries a plus.
- Proven experience managing brand strategy and corporate communications in a technical or specification-driven environment.
- Demonstrated success developing and executing content strategies that support complex buyer journeys.
- Experience leading integrated marketing campaigns tied to revenue and growth objectives.
- Track record of partnering with sales teams to drive pipeline and revenue impact.
- Experience managing agencies and cross-functional stakeholders.
