About This Position

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Compliance Assistant reports to and supports the Closing and Compliance Manager in the Real Estate and Marketing Department. This role assists with ensuring project compliance, closing coordination, and researching past deals. The assistant will also help with tasks related to tracking and monitoring properties in the compliance phase of agreements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist with the coordination of closing and compliance work
• Help track project compliance through the DLBA's release of interest
• Help facilitate title work requests for the Real Estate / Economic Development team
• Support the reconciliation of deals, including updating information in Salesforce and recording deeds
• Assist with processing assignment and subordination agreement requests
• Aid release requests, helping to obtain necessary signatures and record releases
• Assist with reviewing transaction histories and providing summaries
• Help resolve customer conflicts and complaints
• Collect EMD and title work funds from prospective buyers
• Support the collection of signatures for agreements
• Meet regularly with the Real Estate Team to provide guidance on closing, compliance, and recording work
• Provide support to the Project Manager for Compliance with developing new compliance processes and reports
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors

QUALIFICATIONS: (knowledge, experience, skills, abilities)

• Strong organizational and time-management skills are required.
• Experience with managing personal workflow
• Excellent customer service skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook
• Ability to operate standard office equipment
• A proven track record of working in a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment
• Experience with the Salesforce database is a plus.
• Must be a collaborative team member
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the candidate must be able to move up to 30 pounds floor to the waist, and push/pull up to 30 pounds a distance of up to 100 feet. Must have the ability to travel to and from various locations throughout the City of Detroit utilizing a personal vehicle.
