About This Position

Driver-Transportation Specialist

Department: Operations

Reports to: Facilities Manager

Location: Buffalo, NY

Full-Time:3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Pay Schedule: Non-exempt gets paid weekly

(Non-Exempt): Compensation starts at $40,000–$46,000 annually, depending on experience.

Shift Differential: 2nd Shift, +$1. hour, 3rd Shift, +$2. Hour (Based on hours worked)

Benefits: Begin the first day after the first two full months of employment.

Position Summary

The Transportation Specialist plays a critical role in supporting organizational goals by coordinating and managing transportation logistics for both incoming and outgoing shipments. Acting as a central point of coordination, execution, and communication across the department, this role ensures delivery of high-quality service and operational efficiency. The incumbent must demonstrate professionalism, maintain confidentiality, and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Coordinate transportation logistics for incoming and outgoing shipments.

• Schedule and dispatch drivers and delivery vehicles as needed.

• Ensure compliance with DOT and company transportation policies.

• Track shipments and resolve delivery issues promptly.

• Maintain transportation records and prepare necessary reports.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.

• 2+ years of logistics, dispatch, or transportation coordination experience.

• Knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation software.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Additional Responsibilities

Employees may be required to perform duties outside their primary responsibilities or assigned department, as reasonably requested by management. These duties may occasionally occur outside regular working hours, provided they align with applicable labor laws.

On-Call Requirements

If you are called in to work outside your regular schedule, you are expected to work at least four hours unless otherwise directed by management.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this position successfully.

  • Primarily a sedentary office role with frequent use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
  • Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods, occasional light lifting (up to 15 pounds), and regular use of hands and fingers for typing and data entry.
  • Visual acuity to read and produce reports, and ability to communicate effectively in a typical office environment.
