The Vice President of Medical Affairs (VPMA) is a key position within the senior management team of AnMed. The individual in this position must be responsive to the needs and concerns of the medical staff and is expected to foster and contribute to a close and mutually beneficial relationship between the medical staff and AnMed Health management, medical staff governance, credentialing and Continuing Medical Education (CME). The VPMA will work closely with medical staff members, officers and leaders, including clinical department and committee chairs. The VPMA will assist all parties as they endeavor to provide quality care to patients, families and the community. The VPMA will provide a medical/physician perspective and expertise in the development and implementation of corporate objectives. The VPMA will play a key role in the establishment and function of the Medical Directors Council.

Qualifications: Licensed physician (M.D. or D.O.), with requisite clinical training and Board certification. Additional advanced management education and/or Certified Physician Executive (CPE) preferred. Minimum of five (5) years prior medical staff leadership and/or management experience required.

  • Understanding of the development and operation of medical staff organizations;
  • Strong knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and professional standards;
  • Strong planning skills;
  • Strong change management skills;
  • Must demonstrate personal traits of high level of motivation;
  • Must place a high value on treating others with dignity and respect;
  • Must serve as ambassador to the Medical Staff, to serve as an effective buffer second support for the CMO.
