About This Position
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Senior Accountant to join our team. This role is essential to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting while supporting the business with timely insights and compliance. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in monthly close, reconciliations, statutory filings, and audit support across multiple entities and accounting systems.
Essential Job Duties
- Lead monthly close activities, including preparing journal entries, balancing accounts, and reconciling across multiple entities
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial reports and reconciliations
- Partner with internal and external audit teams on annual, tax, and bank audits
- Assist in reconciling, processing, and answering inquiries related to year-end 1099s (7,000+ annually)
- Prepare and file state and local statutory reporting, including ad valorem taxes, personal property taxes, and other compliance filings
- Document, implement, and monitor internal controls to strengthen compliance
- Provide support for special accounting projects as needed
- Maintain strict adherence to company policies, procedures, and deadlines
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or similar
- 5 years of experience in a corporate accounting function with increasing responsibility
- Experience with statutory filings
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment while being flexible and able to work within a team
- Strong technical accounting knowledge
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles GAAP
- Basic computer skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Ability to work well with other teams and to effectively communicate issues
- Continuous improvement mindset
- Understands process controls and has a mindset to constantly look to strengthen controls
- Ability to take direction and work independently to accomplish tasks
- Demonstrated ability to stay organized and meet deadlines
- Strong listening, written, and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with a high transaction volume commercial business
- Experience working closely with audit teams to complete a year-end and/or tax audit
