About This Position

QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful completion of an accredited Pediatric Residency Program with three (3) or more years of experience.
Current board certification or board eligibility by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP).

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Pediatrician to join our busy well-established community-based primary care practice in New Orleans, Louisiana. This Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) is seeking a provider to work full-time. This Full-time position for a Pediatrician, requires work 5 days a week; hours: 8:00am – 5:00pm. Full, unrestricted Louisiana Medical License. Federal DEA Clean background
o malpractice history. This pediatrician will provide comprehensive medical care to infants, children, and adolescents, encompassing preventive care, diagnosis and treatment of illnesses and injuries, and monitoring growth and development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key responsibilities include performing physical exams, administering vaccinations, educating parents on health and safety, maintaining detailed medical records, and collaborating with specialists for complex cases.
1. Examination of patients, formulation differential diagnostic plans, defines and orders required diagnostic testing.
2. Interpretation of examination findings and test results, and implementation of treatment plans.
3. Determines need for consultation and assist in medical care and treatment provided at the direction of other specialists.
4. Answering patient telephone consult with the assistance of clinic staff.
5. Educate patients and families on health maintenance, developmental milestones, and family planning.
6. Administer immunizations and conduct preventive screenings in accordance with CDC guidelines and quality measures.
7. Elicits and records information about patients’ medical history.
8. Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient’s condition.
9. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records about each patient, including observations during examinations (via EMR).
10. Analyzes reports and findings of tests and examination and diagnose condition of patient.
11. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay current with advancements in pediatric medicine
12. Perform simple procedures commensurate with competence.
13. Prepare records and reports as required in support of services rendered in accordance with established procedures.
14. Attend and participate in patient care reports, patient care conferences, team conferences, professional staff conferences and other appropriate professional activities only to the extent that such attendance and participation is relative to his/her assigned cases and/or performance of services as determined by the Medical Director.
15. Comply with all laws applicable to and within scope of Pediatric Practice, including HIPPA.
16. Provide On-call coverage for Pediatric patients.

DESIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
1. Be capable of adequately diagnosing and treating a wide range of pediatric acute and chronic diseases and injuries.
2. Knowledge and appreciation of cultural differences and providing culturally appropriate care.
3. Knowledge of emergency protocols and standard of care
4. Knowledge and prior experience with electronic medical records
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills

REQUIREMENTS

Full, unrestricted Louisiana Medical License. Federal DEA Clean background
o malpractice history.
Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
