Job Description

  • POSITION SUMMARY
    • Coordinates and manages the pharmacy medication use systems utilized in coordination with the hospital information systems. Ensures that systems perform optimally. Coordinates software and hardware installation necessary to maintain system performance and operability. Coordinates Cerner upgrades (platform/base code). Collaborates with EAH analysts, pharmacy team, and Cerner as needed for issue management and resolution. Notifies pharmacy management of issues that have large impact on the pharmacy’s ability to provide safe, effective patient care or that may impact hospital's financial stability. develops and supports reports and analytics to support the Pharmacy Department’s clinical, drug supply chain management, pharmacoeconomic, drug diversion surveillance, systems integrity/data quality assurance, and other administrative initiatives. Builds, implements, maintains, and provides support of the medication use systems utilized in coordination with the hospital information systems. Works in coordination with patient accounts and other service departments to ensure the accuracy and integrity of daily patient charge data. Coordinates changes in Cerner with other analysts and applications to ensure that system performance is maintained and that adverse effects are minimized. Exhibits strong oral and written communication skills necessary to communicate with end users, management and vendors.
  • POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
    • Minimum Education
      • Bachelor's Degree

    • Minimum Experience
      • 5 years hospital information systems

    • Required Registration/License/Certification
      • Alabama Board of Pharmacy Technician Certificate

    • Preferred Education
      • MS or BS in Pharmacy Informatics/Computer Science or related degree

    • Preferred Experience
      • Ten or more years’ experience in hospital pharmacy informatics, extensive Cerner experience.

    • Preferred Registration/License/Certification
      • ASHP Pharmacy Informatics Certificate, CAHIMS/CPHIMS Certificate

    • Other Requirements
      • N/A
