About This Position

The Deputy Director reports directly to the Director and is responsible for supervising criminal and civil investigations and special projects as assigned by the Director. The Individual will oversee the Units investigations including complex fraud cases, abuse and neglect cases, and drug diversion cases. The individual will supervise the investigative supervisors to maintain high quality case outcomes consistent with the federal Performance Standards. In addition to leadership, the individual must be adept at reviewing and editing reports including affidavits of probable cause, search warrants, interview reports, and provide prosecution assistance when requested. The ability to recognize and explain complex matters and to distinguish essential investigative data from non-essential is important. The ability to build good relationships with state and federal partners will be required. The individual also must be knowledgeable of state and federal rules regarding the functioning of a Medicaid Fraud Control Unit to ensure federal performance standards and jurisdiction of all cases are maintained. Knowledge of the state contracting process for investigative related tools, Memorandum of Understandings, and Data Sharing Agreements will also be necessary. The successful individual will also assist in ensuring employee training and development is appropriate for investigative employees.


To perform this job successfully, the individual must possess strong written and oral communications skills, proven case management and technical/computer knowledge, be organized, and highly motivated. The successful candidate must also be able to write probable cause affidavits, have a good understanding of criminal procedure, and be able to work in a team setting. This is not a sworn law enforcement position but many of the job duties are consistent with that of a sworn law enforcement officer.


The qualified candidate must be licensed to practice law in the State of Indiana. Preferred qualifications include relevant experience in investigations or in a related field. Must be able to work from Castleton Indiana office.


Pay commensurate with experience.
