About This Position
Our new Youth Development Care Center located in Caledonia, WI is a modern, thoughtfully designed facility that reflects our commitment to rehabilitation and safety for both youth and staff.
- Lead and oversee the day-to-day tasks of assigned Safety & Security Workers.
- Serve as an integral member of the YDCC's management team.
- Provide direct supervision during assigned shifts, ensuring policy and procedural compliance.
- Act as the Safety & Security Supervisor in their absence, assuming full supervisory duties.
- Conduct performance evaluations, coach staff, and recommend disciplinary actions as needed.
- Assist with youth intake and release procedures.
- Intervene and restrain youth in accordance with approved crisis intervention techniques when necessary.
- Enforce facility rules, maintain order, and ensure a structured, respectful environment.
- Complete and document room checks as required.
- Conduct monthly safety and security inspections; identify and report equipment issues and maintenance needs.
- Manage supply inventories and submit requisitions for cleaning, laundry, and personal care supplies.
- Lead team huddles and contribute to staff development through mentoring and training.

Receives supervision from the Safety & Security Supervisor.
- Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services related field from an accredited college preferred
- At least 21 years of age
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in a juvenile justice or adult corrections setting
- Supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred
- No criminal convictions that substantially relate to the position duties
- Experience in maintaining records and preparing reports
- Requires post-offer drug testing and random drug tests while employed
- Must attend and satisfactorily complete State of Wisconsin Jail/Detention worker training
- Have and maintain valid driver's license
- Ability to work flexible shifts as needed in a 24/7 facility
- *Or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities
Proven leadership, team-building, and coaching skills
Strong understanding of trauma-informed care principles and their application in a secure youth setting
Ability to respond to emergency situations calmly and professionally
Capable of working with at-risk youth and building trust through empathy and consistency
Effective communicator with youth, families, staff, and external stakeholders
Organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
Strong recordkeeping skills
Physical Requirements
Frequent: Standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
Occasional: Stooping, climbing, carrying up to 80 lbs., pushing/pulling loads
Requires normal vision, hearing, and dexterity for radio use, documentation, and safety tasks
Work performed in a secure, indoor facility with standard safety and security protocols
Uniforms and portable radios required at all times while on duty
Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens
