Are you an experienced Railroad Mechanic/Electrician looking to join a fast-paced, hands-on work environment? We are seeking a dedicated, safety-focused professional to join our team and maintain our 50KV electric train system. This is a critical role that ensures our rail equipment operates safely and efficiently—day in and day out.

Responsibilities Include:

• Troubleshoot and repair track and shop equipment, locomotives, and railroad cars
• Perform scheduled monthly and yearly preventative maintenance (PMs)
• Maintain and repair railroad equipment, including:
• Pulling trucks
• Replacing wheels
• Checking and adjusting brakes
• Adjusting car doors
• Performing single car brake tests
• Gauging wheels
• Switching cars
• Perform monthly electrical inspections and repairs for the railroad shop, loadout, slot storage, and county road crossing
• Disassemble and reassemble traction motors, Lexair valves, and silicon-controlled rectifiers (SCR’s)
• Perform welding and cutting tasks
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and diagrams
• Apply knowledge of pneumatics, basic math, and electrical theory

Minimum Requirements:

• MSHA 24-Hour Surface Certificate (REQUIRED)
• State of Colorado Underground & Surface Electrical Certification (Low, Medium, High Voltage REQUIRED)
• Must be trained in welding and cutting metal
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Proficient in basic math and pneumatics
• CDL Class A or B license is preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to perform physically demanding work throughout the day
• Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist, and crawl
• Must be able to reach and lift above and below shoulder level
• Ability to use both hands for:
• Simple and power grasping
• Pushing and pulling
• Fine manipulation
• Must be able to lift and carry 75+ pounds
• Good eyesight and hearing are essential for this role

Additional Information:

• Must be willing and able to work all shifts
• This is a safety-sensitive position—strict adherence to all safety protocols is required
