As a Background Verification Analyst, you will play an important role in accurately reviewing criminal background information and supporting fair, compliant screening decisions. You will help clients and consumers understand screening results while navigating sensitive situations with professionalism and care. The role combines detailed analysis, regulatory knowledge, customer communication, and effective case management. You will develop expertise in screening systems and consumer reporting requirements, including FCRA regulations. Success in this position requires strong organization, sound judgment, and the ability to remain composed when handling complex or high-stress conversations. You will also contribute to a collaborative team environment focused on accuracy, service quality, compliance, and continuous improvement.
You will manage background verification activities with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, timely communication, and high-quality service to both clients and consumers.
- Review and analyze criminal records and background screening data to assess applicant eligibility and help clients mitigate potential risks.
- Develop strong expertise in screening software, processes, and applicable consumer reporting requirements.
- Ensure background verification activities comply with federal and state regulations, including Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requirements.
- Respond to client and consumer inquiries through phone and email, providing clear and professional explanations of screening results and processes.
- Guide clients and consumers through appropriate next steps when questions, disputes, or issues arise.
- Provide accurate and timely updates on open tasks and cases to relevant stakeholders.
- Manage workloads effectively while meeting established deadlines and service-level agreements.
- Support colleagues with workload management, case resolution, and problem-solving.
- Handle sensitive and potentially difficult conversations professionally, including situations involving unfavorable screening outcomes.
- Participate in training sessions, team meetings, coaching, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Use approved AI tools to support high-value work while reviewing AI-generated outputs for accuracy, relevance, and potential errors.
- Protect confidential and personally identifiable information by following established data governance and AI usage requirements.
Requirements:

- Previous experience managing difficult conversations or communicating unfavorable decisions is preferred.
- Experience in the multifamily housing or property management industry is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Ability to use company-approved GenAI tools effectively and critically assess AI-generated outputs.
- Understanding of responsible AI use, including protecting proprietary and personally identifiable information, is preferred.
- Candidates must be located in Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Texas, North Carolina, or Florida.
