About the Team
The Planning team is positioned at the intersection of Merchandising, Sales, Finance and Operations. We analyze sales, monitor category trends, support company goals, and create forecasts that fuel our purchase decisions. We function as a highly collaborative team focused on making sure we have the right product at the right time at the right price.
Core Project – Substitution Behavior
When one of our SKUs is unavailable, some customers buy a different color or size from us and some buy nothing. This project will entail reviewing stockouts on our eCommerce sales channels and measuring where and at what rate sales transfer to other in-stock products, by product type. Your goals will be to determine which products have the highest loss exposure to a stockout and to establish a loss or transference ratio matrix by product. You’ll build an AI-powered model to pull and clean data, analyze where demand transfers and where it disappears, and stress test your conclusions.
Other Projects and Recurring Responsibilities
- Analyze physical retail performance by store. Analyze each store’s performance to answer the question: what sells best in which stores, and why?
- Assist in Amazon purchase order review and acceptance.
- Review Amazon’s weekly inventory coverage and supply health.
- Monitor inbound containers and supply chain for inventory constraints and communicate urgency to assist the Operations team.
- Build an analysis that tracks how designs perform relative to average. We consistently bring fresh designas to our customers, and a big part of buying properly to support demand is having data to support which designs are most likely to resonate with customers.
- Weekly variance report versus forecast. Analyze the prior week’s sales versus our forecast and investigate what drove the variance.
Helpful Skills
- Familiarity with Excel and data sets
- Curious and willing to solve ambiguous problems
- Able to explain your analysis out loud and defend the assumptions in it
