Class A CDL Route Driver

Denali is seeking a dependable Class A CDL Route Driver to operate a straight truck on local collection routes throughout the Monee, Illinois area. The driver will collect and transport food waste and organic materials from contracted customer locations while providing professional service and complying with all DOT and company safety requirements.

This is a safety-sensitive position requiring sound judgment, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to the safety of the driver, coworkers, customers, and surrounding communities.

Schedule and Route Information
  • Start time typically between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.
  • Primarily assigned to local routes
  • Home daily
  • May occasionally cross state lines based on business needs
  • Schedule and daily hours may vary depending on assigned routes
  • Additional hours may be required during seasonal peak periods
  • All hours will be worked in accordance with applicable DOT Hours-of-Service regulations
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesRoute Operations
  • Safely operate a commercial straight truck to collect and transport food waste and organic materials.
  • Complete assigned local routes with multiple customer stops each day.
  • Follow company-established routes, schedules, and service instructions.
  • Operate manual- and automatic-transmission vehicles as assigned.
  • Safely operate manual or electric pallet jacks when required.
  • Complete occasional interstate routes based on operational needs.
  • Properly load, secure, transport, and unload collected materials.
Customer Service
  • Provide dependable and professional service at every customer location.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with customers and site personnel.
  • Clean and pressure-wash bins and containers when required.
  • Leave customer locations clean, organized, and free of debris.
  • Report service concerns, missed pickups, contamination issues, and customer requests promptly.
  • Represent Denali professionally at all times.
Equipment Inspection and Maintenance
  • Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports accurately.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and condition of assigned trucks and equipment.
  • Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs using hand tools when appropriate.
  • Report mechanical problems, equipment damage, breakdowns, and safety concerns immediately.
Documentation and Compliance
  • Use an electronic logging device to maintain accurate Hours-of-Service records.
  • Complete and submit all required documentation, including:
    • Service tickets
    • Contamination reports
    • Vehicle inspection reports
    • Maintenance records
    • Route and collection documentation
  • Comply with all DOT, FMCSA, federal, state, local, and company requirements.
Safety Responsibilities
  • Follow all company safety procedures and DOT regulations.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment.
  • Attend required safety meetings, training sessions, and operational briefings.
  • Report accidents, injuries, spills, property damage, and unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Maintain a safe working environment at customer and company locations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Self-certified as a Non-Excepted Interstate driver with the issuing state.
  • Current DOT medical card.
  • Clean and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and PSP report.
  • Experience safely operating commercial straight trucks.
  • Ability to operate manual- and automatic-transmission vehicles as required.
  • Stable employment history.
  • Strong customer-service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and all other required screenings.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Local route-driving experience with multiple daily stops.
  • Experience collecting or transporting food waste, organic materials, agricultural products, or bulk materials.
  • Experience using manual or electric pallet jacks.
  • Familiarity with electronic logging devices.
  • Basic mechanical and preventive-maintenance knowledge.
  • Experience pressure-washing commercial bins or containers.
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly lift, push, and pull up to 70 pounds.
  • Pull or roll containers weighing up to 300 pounds with appropriate equipment.
  • Frequently bend, stoop, twist, reach, climb, walk, and shovel.
  • Enter and exit the truck multiple times throughout the workday.
  • Work around food waste, organic materials, and associated odors.
  • Work outdoors in varying conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, mud, and wind.
Work Environment

This position is primarily performed outdoors and requires frequent interaction with retail customers, food-processing facilities, farms, industrial sites, and other collection locations. Drivers must be comfortable working around food waste and organic materials while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, professionalism, reliability, and safety.
