POSITION SUMMARY

The Houseman plays an important role in maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, organization, and overall guest experience throughout Tanglewood Resort. This position supports the Housekeeping team by maintaining public and back-of-house areas, assisting Room Attendants with supplies and linens, responding to guest and departmental requests, removing trash and soiled linen, and helping ensure the resort is clean, safe, and guest-ready at all times.

The ideal candidate is dependable, hardworking, organized, and willing to assist wherever needed. Because this position works throughout the resort, the Houseman should maintain a professional appearance and provide friendly, courteous service whenever interacting with guests, members, and fellow team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Housekeeping Support

Stock and maintain housekeeping closets, carts, and designated supply areas.

Deliver clean linens, towels, amenities, rollaway beds, cribs, and other requested items.

Collect and transport soiled linens and towels to designated laundry areas.

Assist Room Attendants with heavier items and additional supplies as needed.

Remove trash from guest room areas, housekeeping areas, and designated locations.

Help maintain organized linen and storage areas.

Assist with stripping rooms during high-occupancy periods when requested.

Assist the Housekeeping team in preparing rooms and areas for guest arrival.

Public Areas & Resort Cleanliness

Maintain cleanliness of hallways, stairwells, elevators, entrances, common areas, and other assigned spaces.

Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, and clean assigned areas.

Clean glass doors, windows, mirrors, and other surfaces as assigned.

Remove trash and replace liners throughout assigned areas.

Maintain cleanliness around elevators, vending areas, ice machines, and guest corridors.

Monitor public areas throughout the shift and address cleanliness issues promptly.

Assist with cleaning projects and deep-cleaning assignments as directed.

Guest & Team Member Assistance

Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests.

Deliver requested housekeeping items to guest rooms.

Greet guests and members in a friendly and professional manner.

Immediately communicate guest concerns or maintenance issues to the appropriate department.

Work cooperatively with Housekeeping, Front Desk, Maintenance, Laundry, and other resort departments.

Safety & Resort Standards

Follow all Tanglewood Resort safety, security, and housekeeping procedures.

Properly use and store cleaning chemicals, equipment, and supplies.

Keep hallways, stairwells, storage rooms, and work areas free of hazards.

Immediately report damaged furniture, fixtures, equipment, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or other maintenance concerns.

Report lost-and-found items according to resort procedures.

Report suspicious activity or safety concerns immediately to management.

Follow proper procedures when entering or working around occupied guest rooms.

Maintain resort equipment and report damaged or malfunctioning equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Previous hotel, resort, housekeeping, janitorial, or similar experience preferred but not required.

Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a team.

Strong attention to cleanliness and detail.

Dependable and able to complete assigned duties with limited supervision.

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Professional and courteous when interacting with guests and team members.

Must be willing to assist in multiple areas based on resort occupancy and operational needs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This is a physically active position. Team members must be able to:

Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.

Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, and carry.

Push and maneuver housekeeping carts, linen carts, trash carts, and other equipment.

Regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Safely move heavier items with assistance when necessary.

Use stairs and travel between multiple areas of the resort.

Work both indoors and outdoors when assigned.

Work around cleaning chemicals and housekeeping equipment while following required safety procedures.

SCHEDULE & AVAILABILITY

Tanglewood Resort operates seven days a week, including weekends and holidays. The Houseman must have scheduling flexibility based on occupancy, special events, group business, and resort needs.

At Tanglewood Resort, providing an exceptional guest experience is a team effort. While the Houseman's primary responsibility is supporting Housekeeping and maintaining assigned areas, all team members may be asked to assist with reasonable duties outside their normal assignments when necessary to support resort operations and our guests.
