POSITION SUMMARY:

The manufacturing engineering technician reports to the manufacturing engineering manager and is responsible primarily for assisting the manufacturing engineering staff with the calculation, analysis, design, testing, evaluation, and implementation for successful completion of various improvement projects in the production and fabrication lines. They will be responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and improving manufacturing processes, methods, quality, and controls in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support Manufacturing Engineers with production line improvements, workstation optimization, and process documentation. Assistin developing, updating, andmaintainingwork instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and manufacturing process documentation. Collect, analyze, and report manufacturing and quality performance data. Perform product and process inspections to verify compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards. Assistin root cause analysis investigations using problem-solving methodologies such as 5 Why, Fishbone, and Pareto analysis. Support corrective and preventive action activities and verify effectiveness of implemented solutions.Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost reduction. Assistwith validation of manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, and equipment. Support nonconformance management activities, including documentation, containment, disposition, and tracking. Coordinate calibration activities for inspection and measurement equipment asrequired. Support new product introductionactivities through manufacturing readiness and quality verification. Perform process audits and ensure compliance with company procedures and quality management systems. Collaborate with production personnel to resolve manufacturing and quality issuesin a timely manner. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and environmental requirements. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Associate degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Quality Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Mechanical Technology, ora relatedtechnical field preferred.High school diploma or GEDrequired. Minimum of 2 years of experience inamanufacturing, engineering, quality, or technical support environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working with production processes, inspection methods, and quality systems is preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS/LISCENCES:

  • Must obtain and maintain the applicable employee license with the Texas Railroad Commission; must pass test within 45 days of hire.
  • Must possess a current and valid driver license with a driving record that meets the insurability guidelines set forth by the company’s insurance carrier.
  • OSHA 10/OSHA 30 and working knowledge of CAD software is a plus.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts effectively with all levels of the organization in both verbal and written forms.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of proficiency in business operational shrewdness, good judgment, planning, communicating orally and in writing, business knowledge, and expertise within areas of responsibility.
  • Show understanding and knowledge of key market trends.
  • OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience implementing new equipment or products, design projects, manufacturing process, programming/diagnosing manufacturing equipment is a requirement.
  • Experience in fabrication, CNC equipment programming.
  • PLC/HMI diagnostic/repair is a plus (1 year).
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Keep in mind this is a hands-on position that requires you to be out in the production plant working on heavy equipment at times. Should possess strong manual dexterity.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. Duties are performed in a loud environment (production setting) subject to relative ambient temperatures. Some duties may be required to be performed outside. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
