Manages administrative and financial operations for Research Grants & Contracts and reviews and negotiates complex grants, contracts, and subcontracts. Reviews and reconciles financial and grant documents and ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations. Prepares and negotiates complex budgets and related documents. Serves as a primary contact and resource regarding all aspects of research grants and contracts, updates databases and accounts, and develops and facilitates operational policies and procedures.
Essential Functions
The Research Manager serves as the principal operational partner to the Faculty Director, managing the full range of administrative, personnel, financial liaison, and quality-control functions for the Faculty Director's research program. This position acts as a trusted extension of the Faculty Director — anticipating operational needs, exercising independent judgment on day-to-day matters, and ensuring the lab or research group runs efficiently, complies with sponsor and institutional policy, and is positioned for continued growth. The Research Manager oversees hiring and training of lab personnel, establishes and enforces internal systems and protocols, manages task and project workflows across the team, supports proposal development and progress reporting, and serves as the primary liaison to department/school administrators on financial and HR matters.

Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
