Speech Therapist in Linton, Indiana at Greene County General Hospital

Under general supervision is responsible for providing speech, language, and dysphagia services to patients include; evaluations, planning individual patient care programs, treatments, and home
programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs patient evaluations and administers treatment for speech language and swallowing disorders.
• Designs and revises plans of care and goals.
• Provides written and/or verbal reports to physicians.
• Completes documentation according to unit standards and regulatory requirements.
• Participates in in-service education programs.
• Provides instruction, direction and supervision to new employees.
• Keeps abreast of current trends and developments in speech and swallowing disorders
• Participates in related activities such as patient care committees, case conferences, personnel
  orientations, community education projects and in-service education.
• Attends staff meetings.
• Provides families of patients with information concerning specific disorders as needed
• Review each patients chart and history to become familiar with patients’ needs
• Develops patient literature with other members of the department
• Maintains contact with all referring physicians of patients in the programs and sends discharge summary to the physician after program is completed
• Assists patients to obtain home therapy equipment
• Attends and contributes to in-services and comprehensive plans of care for the patients of the Agency
• Assists with quarterly clinical records review
• Uses equipment and supplies efficiently and effectively
• Provide reliable transportation to and from work and patients’ homes
• Pursues personal professional growth and development through participation in education programs and review of current health care literature
• Understand and adheres to all policies, philosophies and standards of the Home Health Care Agency
• Any other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Education: Master’s degree in speech pathology.

Licensure/Certification: Current licensure by the Indiana Board of Examiners on Speech Pathology and Audiology required.

Experience: Two - three years’ experience in clinical speech pathology. Excellent interpersonal skills required. May be assigned to work in homes of patients from all socio-economic levels.
