This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director – Life Sciences Strategy & Intelligence based in the United States.

This senior leadership role sits at the intersection of life sciences strategy, competitive intelligence, and client advisory work, supporting some of the most influential pharmaceutical and biotech organizations. You will lead complex client engagements while actively contributing to high-value analytical work, ensuring insights are translated into clear strategic direction. Operating in a player-coach capacity, you will guide multidisciplinary teams, elevate delivery quality, and serve as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders. The role combines strategic oversight with hands-on engagement, requiring both intellectual depth and executional rigor. You will also play a key role in shaping methodologies, enhancing operational excellence, and advancing the use of AI and data-driven tools in intelligence work. This is a high-impact position where your work directly informs critical decisions in drug development, commercialization, and market strategy.

Accountabilities

This role is responsible for leading client engagements, strengthening delivery excellence, and shaping strategic outcomes across life sciences competitive intelligence projects. You will operate as both a senior advisor and an active contributor, ensuring insights are actionable, high-quality, and aligned with client priorities.

  • Lead and oversee multiple client engagements, ensuring high-quality, strategic, and decision-ready deliverables
  • Translate complex data and research into clear, executive-level insights that support strategic decision-making
  • Act as a senior escalation point and trusted advisor for clients across pharmaceutical and biotech organizations
  • Mentor, coach, and develop internal teams to build high-performance capability and consistent delivery standards
  • Support business development activities including proposals, pitches, and expansion of existing client relationships
  • Drive operational excellence by improving workflows, resourcing models, and delivery processes
  • Contribute directly to analysis, research design, and insight generation on priority engagements
  • Facilitate and support client workshops, scenario planning sessions, and strategic discussions
  • Champion innovation through the integration of AI, automation, and advanced analytical tools
Requirements

This role requires a seasoned life sciences professional with strong consulting, strategy, or competitive intelligence experience, combined with proven leadership capability and client-facing expertise.

  • 6–10+ years of experience in life sciences consulting, competitive intelligence, or strategic insights roles
  • Bachelor’s degree in a life sciences field required; advanced degree (MS, PhD, or MBA) strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical and biotech industry dynamics, including clinical development and commercialization
  • Proven experience leading teams and managing complex, multi-workstream client engagements
  • Strong ability to synthesize complex information into clear, compelling strategic insights
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills with executive-level stakeholder engagement experience
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop high-performing teams
  • Strong operational mindset with focus on quality control, structure, and delivery excellence
  • Experience working in client-facing consulting or advisory environments
  • Interest in innovation, including AI, data, and automation in analytical workflows
