Description: Join Our Team as Swimming Pool Manager

We are seeking an energetic, dependable, and safety-focused Swimming Pool Manager to oversee our pool operation during the summer season. This leadership position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with staff, families, and youth in a fun outdoor environment while maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and customer service.

The Pool Manager will be responsible for supervising lifeguards, coordinating daily pool operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and creating a welcoming and enjoyable experience for all members and guests.

Pay: $20-$25 per hour (based on experience)

Supervises: Lifeguards, Pool Attendants, Swim Instructors

Classification: Seasonal Full Time Position (May-September)

Job Summary (Essential Functions)

Responsible for the overall operation, safety, maintenance, and administration of the swimming pool facility, including supervision of aquatic staff, regulatory compliance, water quality management, and member service.

Job Tasks/Duties

Staff Management

· Supervises, trains, schedules, and evaluates lifeguards and other aquatic staff.

· Assists with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training lifeguards, swim instructors, and pool attendants.

· Provides coaching, corrective action, and disciplinary documentation when necessary in accordance with organizational policies.

· Ensures all staff maintain vigilance while on duty and conducts regular observations and audits of lifeguard performance to uphold safety standards.

· Ensures all lifeguards maintain required certifications and complete ongoing training.

· Conducts regular staff meetings and in-service training sessions.

· Reviews and approves employee time records and assists with payroll administration to ensure accuracy.

· Maintains employee records including certifications, training documentation, schedules, and performance records.

Pool Operations & Maintenance

· Oversees daily operation of the swimming pool and surrounding facilities.

· Conducts pool opening and closing procedures and ensures facility readiness for daily operations.

· Monitors pool chemistry and coordinates routine maintenance to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

· Performs and documents water testing and chemical adjustments as required.

· Inspects pool equipment, safety equipment, locker rooms, restrooms, and surrounding areas to ensure cleanliness and proper operation.

· Maintains inventory of pool chemicals, first aid supplies, and operational equipment.

· Coordinates repairs and communicates maintenance needs to management.

· Monitors’ attendance levels and staffing needs to ensure appropriate coverage.

Safety & Compliance

· Prepares the facility for health department inspections and ensures compliance with all inspection requirements.

· Enforces pool rules and addresses member and guest concerns in a professional manner.

· Investigates and documents incidents, accidents, and safety concerns.

· Participates in risk management and emergency response planning.

· Ensures compliance with all applicable health department, state, and organizational regulations.

Member Service

· Establishes and maintains high customer service standards for all aquatic staff and member interactions.

· Assists in planning, organizing, and overseeing swim lessons, aquatic programs, and special events.

Administrative

· Ensures all required records, logs, certifications, and reports are accurately maintained.

· Performs other duties as assigned by the General Manager or Assistant General Manager.

Licenses and Special Requirements

· Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification preferred or required.

· Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.

· Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification preferred or ability to obtain within a designated timeframe.

· Ability to maintain all required certifications throughout employment.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

· Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, stoop, climb, and perform physical activities for extended periods.

· Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.

· Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat and humidity.

· Exposure to wet, slippery surfaces and pool chemicals.

· Ability to tolerate chlorine odors and cleaning agents.

· Ability to work in a busy, noisy environment.

· Must be capable of responding quickly and effectively during emergency situations.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience

· High School Diploma or equivalent required.

· Previous pool management or aquatic facility supervisory experience preferred.

· Previous lifeguarding or aquatic operations experience required.

· Experience supervising staff and managing daily operations.

· Knowledge of pool maintenance, water chemistry, and aquatic safety procedures.

Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations

· Thorough knowledge of pool operations, water chemistry, safety regulations, and risk management practices.

· Ability to supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate lifeguard and pool staff performance.

· Knowledge of rescue techniques, CPR/AED, first aid, and blood-borne pathogen procedures.

· Ability to respond effectively and lead staff during emergency situations.

· Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills.

· Ensures compliance with all local, state, and organizational health and safety regulations.

· Proficient in basic computer applications including email, scheduling systems, spreadsheets, and recordkeeping software.
