A Laboratory Technician is needed to work on a funded research project studying bacteriophage therapy for the treatment of antibiotic-resistant infections. The Laboratory Technician will assist with screening bacterial strains for phage susceptibility, manufacturing phages for clinical use, and processing biospecimens collected from patients who receive this new therapeutic modality. Tasks will include molecular assays like qPCR, phage susceptibility testing, phage purification and testing, genomic DNA extraction, laboratory supply management and ordering, and preparation of research reports.

The Laboratory Technician key duties will include but not limited to: •Performing laboratory testing and some analysis, including organizing, preparing, and testing multiple types of human biospecimens. •Operating and maintaining applicable laboratory equipment for job functions. •Keeping detailed, accurate, and timely data and log books. Organizing and documenting results. •Sterilizing, maintaining, and cleaning lab equipment; preparing work areas; and maintaining cleanliness throughout the laboratory. •Maintaining inventories and assisting with ordering proper supplies and chemicals.

Essential Functions

Perform and document routine laboratory procedures and experiments while maintaining equipment, ensuring safety compliance, and supporting accurate, reliable research operations.

Physical Effort

Standing for extended periods, lifting and carrying equipment or supplies up to moderate weights, and performing repetitive hand and arm motions during laboratory procedures.
