Lead Social Worker in Methuen, Massachusetts at Merrimack Health

JOB SUMMARY:

The Lead Social Work provides supervision and support for the social work team for behavioral health units in Methuen and Haverhill within the Center for Behavioral Medicine. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of social work services for CBM. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, coordination of services with external agencies, provides training and clinical supervision to Master’s level students and staff social workers. Serves as a point of communication between clinicians and the ACNO and Nurse Manager about clinical needs and concerns. Provide education/consultation to other healthcare team members as needed. Assists clinical staff in reviewing/triaging/manage cases and assists in coordination for lower levels of care. Audits medical records and implements procedural changes to correct deficiencies. Interacts with peer positions in other public service agencies and acts as a representative on interdepartmental committees and maintains community liaisons with referral agencies. Interfaces with appropriate public service and hospital staff to assure a cohesive working relationship and to provide comprehensive social work services. Participate in regular staff meetings and communicate with all members of the team as needed. Disseminate appropriate information in a timely manner and provides continuous feedback to staff in the assigned service areas. Provide clinical guidance and support in developing interventions and supervision of team members. Teach and model clinical interventions, strength-based strategies and ensure services are culturally competent for persons served.

EDUCATION AND RELATED EXPERIENCE:

Required:

• Master’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work.
• 3-5 years of clinical work experience with a minimum of 1 year in a management/supervisory role.
• Previous experience with psychiatric/substance abuse population.
• Active independent license to practice social work in Massachusetts (LICSW).
• Strong knowledge of DSM diagnoses including dementia diagnoses
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment; solid decision-making capability; sense of humor and accountability to role and work
• Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
• Case management skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office

Preferred:

• Experience on a behavioral health inpatient unit preferred.
• Meditech knowledge beneficial.
