Summary/Objective:
The Material Handler is responsible for the physical movement, handling, and organization of materials within the warehouse and shop environment. This role supports receiving, storage, and distribution activities while working closely with Inventory Control Coordinators to ensure efficient material flow and accurate inventory handling. The position is essential to maintaining organized operations and supporting production and project needs.
Essential Functions:
- Receive, unload, and transport incoming materials to designated storage areas
- Assist with inspection and verification of received goods
- Pick, stage, and deliver materials to production, internal departments, or job sites
- Load and unload trucks, ensuring materials are handled safely and efficiently
- Organize and maintain storage areas to ensure accessibility and accuracy
- Label materials and assist with proper location tracking
- Support inventory activities, including cycle counts and stock organization
- Assist Inventory Control Coordinators with material distribution and movement
- Perform rigging and material securing as required for safe transport and handling
- Operate forklifts, lulls, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of warehouse and work areas
- Follow established material handling and safety procedures
- Report damaged materials, shortages, or discrepancies to supervisors
- Ensure compliance with company policies and safety standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibility: No
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- 0–2 years of warehouse, material handling, or related experience preferred
- Rigging experience strongly preferred
- Experience operating forklifts, lulls, or similar equipment preferred
- Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Basic communication skills
- Ability to safely lift 50+ pounds
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods
The work environment and physical demands required would be representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, and may include, but are not limited to the following:
Work Environment:
- May work in varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold, and dampness
- May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels
- May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust
- May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights
Physical Demands:
- This role routinely uses construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand and power tools
- While performing duties of the job the employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms
- Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable/wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus

Preferred:
- Prior military experience
- HS diploma or GED equivalent
