Position Summary, EHS Technician
NY Creates is seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Technician to support the development, administration, and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety programs. This role helps ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, supports a safe working environment, and assists with EHS initiatives across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the implementation and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Support industrial and hazardous waste management activities, including waste collection, labeling, storage, and disposal.
- Maintain and update the chemical inventory management system.
- Conduct routine site inspections and audits to support regulatory compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Assist with water and wastewater sampling, monitoring, and reporting activities.
- Support environmental monitoring programs, including data collection, analysis, and recordkeeping.
- Participate in emergency response activities and monitoring events as a member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) Core Team.
- Other reasonable duties assigned.
This position requires the ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information and effectively communicate compliance-related matters to EHS staff and other stakeholders as needed.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications, EHS Technician
- Bachelor's degree in environmental safety, Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field and one to three (1-3) years of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) experience; or Associate degree in Environmental Safety, Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field and three (3) or more years of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) experience.
Ability to obtain and maintain the following certifications:
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER
- RCRA Hazardous Waste Management
- DOT HazMat Ground Shipper
- First Aid/CPR/AED
- Respirator Fit Test
- Ability to perform emergency response, monitoring, inspection, and environmental compliance activities, including carrying and operating monitoring and inspection equipment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare correspondence, reports, and program documentation.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently

Salary Range: $33.07-41.35/hour
