This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead IoT Platform Engineer based in India.
This is a senior technical leadership opportunity focused on designing and developing scalable IoT platforms and cloud-native solutions.
You will work extensively with Java 17+, AWS, and AWS IoT Core to build reliable systems capable of supporting connected devices and data-driven workflows.
The role combines hands-on backend engineering with platform architecture, integration, troubleshooting, and technical decision-making.
You will design communication and data-processing workflows while ensuring that cloud applications are secure, scalable, and resilient.
As a technical leader, you will guide development efforts, collaborate closely with engineering teams, and contribute to complex platform initiatives.
The position is suited to an experienced engineer with deep IoT and AWS expertise who can balance architecture with hands-on implementation.

- Design, architect, and develop scalable IoT platforms capable of supporting reliable connected-device solutions.
- Build robust backend services using Java 17+ and modern cloud-native development practices.
- Develop, integrate, and maintain solutions using AWS IoT Core.
- Design IoT communication workflows and data-processing architectures.
- Build secure, reliable, and scalable cloud-based applications using AWS services.
- Develop REST APIs and microservices supporting IoT platform functionality and integrations.
- Lead technical design, software development, system integration, and implementation activities.
- Troubleshoot complex production, platform, and integration issues and drive them toward resolution.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to align architecture, development, integration, and delivery activities.
- Provide technical leadership throughout the development lifecycle and contribute to key architectural decisions.
- Mentor engineers and share technical knowledge, best practices, and development standards.
- Continuously assess platform performance, reliability, scalability, and opportunities for improvement.
Requirements:
- 10–16 years of overall professional software engineering experience.
- At least 3 years of relevant hands-on IoT experience.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience working with AWS IoT Core.
- Strong expertise in Java 17+ development.
- Strong AWS Cloud knowledge and practical experience building cloud-native applications.
- Proven experience designing and developing IoT platforms and distributed systems.
- Strong Java backend development skills.
- Hands-on experience with REST APIs and microservices architectures.
- Experience designing secure, scalable, and reliable cloud-based solutions.
- Strong understanding of IoT communication and data-processing workflows.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, particularly for production and platform issues.
- Ability to lead technical design and development initiatives while remaining hands-on.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills when working with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and provide technical guidance.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote environment with a high degree of ownership.
