This is a fully remote opportunity for an experienced structural engineering professional specializing in steel connection design.
You’ll contribute to projects from initial analysis through calculations, detailing, reviews, and final submissions.
The role offers exposure to both Canadian and U.S. structural standards, including CISC and AISC projects.
You’ll collaborate closely with project managers and multidisciplinary teams in a technical, fast-paced environment.
Your work will directly support constructible, accurate, and efficient steel structures and connection solutions.

It is well suited to a detail-oriented engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and continuously developing their skills.

Accountabilities
  • Perform structural analysis and connection design for delegated steel engineering projects, including steel connections, miscellaneous steel, and erection engineering.

  • Develop engineering calculations and technical documentation while ensuring designs align with applicable building codes, standards, and project requirements.

  • Support both CISC and AISC projects, with U.S.-based projects coordinated through the appropriate project teams.

  • Review steel shop drawings, submittals, and 3D BIM models to support connection design, constructability, and drawing accuracy.

  • Prepare and respond to RFIs and contribute to the development of new calculation methods and tools that improve project efficiency.

  • Use engineering and design software such as RAM Connection, RISA Connection, Excel, IDEA StatiCa, Bluebeam, Trimble Connect, and Revit as appropriate.

  • Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to organize project activities and support successful project launches and delivery.

  • Communicate technical information clearly with internal teams and project stakeholders while incorporating feedback into design solutions.

  • Maintain strong attention to detail, meet project deadlines, and proactively identify and resolve technical or coordination issues.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is considered an asset.

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or equivalent professional certification is an asset.

  • At least 2 years of relevant structural engineering experience, preferably with exposure to steel connection design.

  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, relevant building codes, materials, and design standards.

  • Experience with steel design, connection engineering, construction processes, or shop drawing review.

  • Familiarity with CISC and/or AISC standards is valuable.

  • Experience with RAM Connection, RISA Connection, IDEA StatiCa, Excel, Bluebeam, Trimble Connect, Revit, or similar engineering/BIM tools is an asset.

  • Strong analytical, logical problem-solving, organizational, and technical documentation skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.

  • Proactive mindset, openness to feedback, and enthusiasm for continuous technical and professional development.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada and able and willing to travel to the United States as required.

Benefits
  • Competitive salary range of $110,000–$150,000 annually.

  • Annual bonus opportunities based on individual and organizational performance.

  • Comprehensive benefits package supporting health and well-being.

  • Employer RRSP matching contributions.

  • Generous personal days to support work-life balance.

  • Professional development opportunities, including training, mentorship, and career-growth pathways.

  • Remote work environment with modern, technology-enabled equipment provided.
