Position Summary

This job description is intended to convey information important to the scope of this position and it is not intended to be an exhaustive list of skills, efforts, duties, responsibilities or working conditions associated with the position.

The Shuttle Driver helps support mountain operations by safely transporting employees between designated locations and Mt. Baker Ski Area in a 15-passenger van during early morning and operational transportation schedules. This position plays an important role in supporting employee access to the mountain while helping maintain safe, reliable, and professional transportation operations in changing mountain and weather conditions.

Successful employees in this role are dependable, safety-focused, and comfortable working independently during early morning hours. This position requires strong situational awareness, professionalism, and reliable communication while operating in winter driving conditions. Shuttle Driver positions may be combined with other operational roles throughout the mountain depending on scheduling and business needs.

General Responsibilities:

  • Transportation of employees to and from Mt. Baker Ski Area from designated shuttle locations and the public between lodges while providing friendly and respectful customer service
  • Create and participate in a positive and inclusive workplace
  • Drive vehicle as trained per policies and in accordance with relevant laws
  • Enforcement of shuttle rider policies
  • Perform duties as trained

Qualifications:

  • Willingness to learn
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Successful completion of the shuttle driver training by an authorized Mt. Baker Ski Area trainer
  • Employment in another Mt. Baker Ski Area department
  • Maintain a valid drivers’ license
  • Meet driving record and background check requirements
  • No Type A driving violations within the past 5 years

Additional Requirements:

  • Employment in this position is contingent upon the successful completion and review of a background screening including Driving Record Check.
  • Applicants listed on the National Sex Offender Registry are not eligible for employment in lead positions

Wage & Hour Information:

  • Starting rate begins at $18.13/hour with increases for experience, merit, tenure and future WA State minimum wage adjustments possible.
  • This is a seasonal, variable hour position. Hours per week may vary between 5-40+ hours/week.
  • Expected end date for position is April 18, 2027, unless otherwise approved by management.

Requirements:

General Physical Requirements:

  • Working in the mountain environment is physically demanding. You need to be in good health and in good physical condition and have the ability to perform the following:
  • Bending, twisting, lifting and moving items throughout the day
  • Ability to lift and move 50 pounds (or more depending on task)
  • Standing and or sitting for long periods
  • Climbing and descending stairs
  • Shoveling and moving snow
  • Standing and walking on compact snow and ice
  • Perform repetitive tasks as necessary
  • Have the physical dexterity to operate a 15-passenger van
