Job Description
Fermi America is building Project Matador, a 17GW private power and AI infrastructure campus in the Texas Panhandle. By integrating natural gas, nuclear, utility power, solar, and battery storage, Fermi is creating the power platform needed to support hyperscale AI and advanced computing on a timeline the traditional grid cannot meet.
We move with urgency, operate at exceptional scale, and communicate with precision. As construction accelerates and Fermi's public profile grows, we are seeking a communications leader who can help define, strengthen, and protect the company's reputation.
The Role
The Head of Corporate Communications will serve as Fermi America's senior communications leader and primary steward of the company's Brand and corporate narrative.
This executive will develop and lead an integrated communications strategy for a broad range of stakeholders, including customers, employees, investors, media, policymakers, community partners, prospective employees, and the public. The role will own external communications, media relations, executive communications, issues and crisis response, brand presence, and corporate content, while dedicating approximately 20–30% of its scope to employee communications, culture, and employer brand.
This is a hands-on leadership role. The successful candidate must be equally comfortable advising executives on sensitive matters, responding to a fast-moving media inquiry, drafting a high-stakes statement, preparing a leader for an interview, and building the communications processes required by a rapidly scaling public company.
The position may initially operate as a senior individual contributor and agency leader, with the opportunity to build an internal communications team as the company grows.
What You'll Do
Corporate Narrative and Reputation
- Develop and own Fermi America's enterprise communications strategy, message architecture, and corporate narrative.
- Translate complex energy, nuclear, infrastructure, construction, financial, and AI-related developments into clear and compelling communications.
- Ensure Fermi communicates consistently across corporate, commercial, investor, employee, recruiting, and community channels.
- Identify emerging reputational opportunities and risks and advise leadership on the appropriate response.
Media Relations and External Communications
- Serve as the central point of contact for media inquiries and establish a company-wide protocol requiring inquiries to be routed through Corporate Communications.
- Build trusted relationships with national, trade, financial, technology, energy, and regional media.
- Proactively generate accurate, high-value coverage of Fermi's progress, partnerships, accomplishments, and leadership.
- Prepare press releases, statements, talking points, media briefs, fact sheets, FAQs, and executive responses.
- Monitor external coverage and public conversation, correct material inaccuracies, and provide leadership with timely intelligence.
- Oversee media monitoring, sentiment analysis, share-of-voice reporting, and communications performance metrics.
Issues and Crisis Communications
- Build and maintain Fermi's issues-management and crisis-communications framework.
- Lead communications during sensitive, rapidly developing, or high-profile situations.
- Coordinate closely with the CEO, Legal, Investor Relations, Finance, Operations, Safety, Regulatory Affairs, and other relevant leaders.
- Develop scenario plans, holding statements, escalation protocols, spokesperson assignments, and response playbooks.
- Exercise sound judgment regarding public-company disclosure requirements and ensure communications are appropriately reviewed.
Executive Communications
- Serve as a trusted communications adviser to the CEO and executive leadership team.
- Develop speeches, presentations, opinion pieces, interview materials, employee messages, and other executive content.
- Prepare and coach executives for media interviews, customer engagements, conferences, community meetings, and internal events.
- Identify opportunities to position Fermi's leaders as authoritative voices at the intersection of energy, AI infrastructure, national security, and economic development.
Employee Communications and Culture
- Partner with HR and executive leadership to build an effective employee-communications program.
- Create a regular cadence of company updates, leadership messages, town halls, milestone communications, and organizational announcements.
- Help employees understand Fermi's strategy, progress, priorities, and their role in delivering Project Matador.
- Support communications related to organizational change, growth, policies, benefits, safety, and culture.
- Establish channels for employee feedback and measure the effectiveness of internal communications.
Brand and Employer Communications
- Own Fermi's brand positioning, visual identity, and messaging standards, ensuring consistent application across corporate, commercial, and recruiting communications.
- Own corporate website, newsroom, social media, video, and other owned-content channels, including strategy and editorial standards.
- Maintain brand and editorial standards for company-wide communications.
- Help develop recruiting campaigns, candidate materials, employer-brand messaging, and employee stories.
Communications Operations
- Manage Fermi's communications agencies, consultants, monitoring platforms, and other external resources.
- Establish editorial calendars, approval workflows, spokesperson protocols, and communications policies.
- Build a scalable communications capability and recommend future team structure and resources.
- Maintain a productive partnership with Investor Relations while preserving clear accountability: Investor Relations leads investor engagement and financial communications; Corporate Communications leads enterprise reputation, media relations, and the broader corporate narrative.

- Direct, intellectually curious, and highly responsive.
- Able to challenge assumptions constructively and protect the company's long-term reputation.
- Comfortable operating with urgency, ambiguity, and high expectations.
- Collaborative without requiring formal authority.
- Deeply committed to accuracy, accountability, and trust.
