Job Description

Description:

The Information Technology department keeps Azure Standard’s systems reliable and secure so the company can serve employees, operations, and customers without disruption.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Systems Administrator is responsible for day-to-day care of Azure Standard’s infrastructure, including servers, identity and access, virtualization, networking, backups, and related business systems. The role provides consistent operational ownership so systems stay patched, recoverable, and secure, and so senior engineering staff can focus on larger improvements and projects. This is an on-site position in Moro, Oregon, reporting to the IT Operations Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain Windows and Linux servers, applications, and related systems, including scheduled patching and follow-up after updates.
  • Monitor system health, capacity, and availability, and resolve or escalate operational issues.
  • Oversee backups and recovery readiness, including regular verification and periodic restore testing.
  • Administer directory services, accounts, permissions, and privileged access, including support for onboarding and offboarding.
  • Support the virtual environment, including monitoring, provisioning, and routine host and virtual-machine maintenance.
  • Help maintain network security and segmentation, and assist with infrastructure installs and changes.
  • Provide hands-on support for server, network, and related hardware work as needed.
  • Participate in routine security reviews and remediation, and assist with incidents when required.
  • Track work in the ticketing system and keep infrastructure documentation current.
  • Work occasional evenings or weekends for maintenance windows and urgent infrastructure issues.
Requirements:
  • Six years of hands-on systems administration in a multi-server environment, or equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server and Active Directory administration.
  • Experience administering Linux systems.
  • Experience with virtualization and backup systems.
  • Familiarity with basic networking, including VLANs and firewall concepts.
  • Ability to perform hands-on hardware work and to document work in a ticketing system.
  • Ability to work on-site in Moro, Oregon, and to support occasional after-hours maintenance.

Preferred

  • Experience in an environment supporting several hundred users.
  • Exposure to security reviews, vulnerability remediation, or access audits.
  • Scripting or automation used to reduce repetitive operational work.
  • Relevant industry certifications.

SUCCESS METRICS

  • Routine maintenance, patching, and reviews are completed on a consistent schedule.
  • Backups are verified and periodically tested so critical systems can be recovered.
  • Access and permissions are reviewed, and unnecessary privileges are removed.
  • Infrastructure issues are tracked, documented, and resolved or escalated in a timely way.
  • Operational work is handled without requiring constant senior-engineering involvement.

WORK PRACTICES & VALUES

  • Uphold Azure Standard’s Core Values in daily work.
  • Own assigned work from start to finish: complete it, verify it, and document it.
  • Prefer prevention over reaction, and escalate early when an issue exceeds the role.
  • Keep infrastructure knowledge shared through current documentation.
  • Work safely and professionally in server rooms and at company sites.

Employee Benefits

  • 401k Retirement
  • Health insurance options through Redirect Health and Amaze/Envita BioMed Program
  • VSP Vision Plan
  • Dental plan
  • AFLAC
  • Canopy Employee Assistance Program
  • LegalShield and ID Shield
  • Azure Cash Discount Shopping Program
  • PTO & Vacation
  • Five paid holidays (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day)
