Tool and Die Machinist - Weekend Shift (Friday, Saturday & Sunday 6am-6pm)

Hanwha Materials Savannah LLC is a leading global provider of advanced engineered solutions for the aerospace and transportation industries. The Company's primary businesses focus on jet engine components, aerospace fastening systems and titanium structural parts necessary for mission-critical performance and efficiency in aerospace and defense applications. Our Savannah Operations is a heavy industrial Forging manufacturing plant located in Midway, Georgia, employs approximately 180 people and is poised for growth!

JOB SUMMARY:

The Tool and Die Machinist is responsible for understanding our forging process and fundamentals in order to help troubleshoot any performance issues with dies, as well as manufacture and repair all tooling required for plant operations.

Essential Functions:

This is a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities and is not all inclusive. Incumbent(s) may and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.

    Assist engineering with troubleshooting die performance issues.Assist engineering in creating robust fixed processes in tool and die department.Create written and electronic work orders for the repair of dies.Organize machining and repair schedules for tooling.Create status reports on tooling progress.Maintains a safe and organized work area and follows all company policy, safety and proceduresAbility to complete 6S projects as assigned
    Understands Forging Process and fundamentalsRegular Attendance is an essential function of the position.
    Sets up and operate any standard and specialized machines to perform necessary operations in departments to which assigned, including but not limited to:
    • CNC lathes (horizontal and vertical)
    • CNC milling machines
    • Drill presses
    • Manual lathes
    • Manual mills
    • Saws
    • General hand tools
    • Jib and overhead cranes
    General understanding of G-code to perform common machining operationsLearn to setup and operate any new machinery added to the departments to which assignedChecks parts with standard gauges or precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, thread gauges, depth micrometers and dial indicator) and submits parts for inspection as requiredReads blueprints and understands general GD&T principlesEvaluate, inspect, and document the condition of dies and die components and log the status of the jobUnderstand the speeds and feeds pertaining to various machines and materialsCommunicate effectively with engineering and coordinatorsWorking knowledge in manufacturing and quality processes and principlesPerforms other tasks as requiredCan send End of Shift reports as needed

Physical Demands:

    Continuously required to wear common Protective or Safety Equipment such as Safety Shoes, Glasses, Gloves, Hearing Protection, Hard Hats.Continuously required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.Frequently required lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Occasionally required to sit.
    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Work Location/Environmental Requirements:

Nickel and titanium manufacturing facility. Exposure to: moving mechanical parts; wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold, extreme heat, vibration; loud noise level

    The standard shift for this position is a 12 hours weekend day shift-Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6AM-6PM

Basic Qualifications:

    Minimum 3 years of experience measuring parts using various inspection tools (calipers, gauges, micrometers)High School Diploma or GED equivalent.Minimum 3 years of experience as a machinistKnowledge of various types of steels and nickel used in forge manufacturing.Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S> person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S>Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
