Director, Medicaid Government Accounts

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Director, Medicaid Government Accounts in the United States.

This is a senior market access leadership role focused on shaping and securing Medicaid and regional payer coverage for an innovative mental health therapy at launch and beyond. You will be responsible for building and executing strategic account plans that translate clinical and economic value into sustainable formulary access across complex US payer systems. The role requires deep expertise in Medicaid structures, payer decision-making, and evidence-based value communication. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including HEOR, Medical Affairs, Government Affairs, and Commercial Operations to ensure cohesive payer strategy execution. This position plays a critical role in enabling patient access to a potentially breakthrough treatment in mental health. It is a high-impact, highly strategic role operating at the intersection of policy, science, and commercial execution.

Accountabilities:
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans for Medicaid and regional (Commercial and Medicare) payers to secure optimal formulary access for an innovative mental health therapy.
  • Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key payer stakeholders, including Pharmacy Directors, Medical Directors, P&T committee members, and finance leaders.
  • Lead negotiations and coverage discussions with payer organizations, identifying and addressing barriers to formulary inclusion and access.
  • Translate clinical, HEOR, and economic evidence into compelling value narratives to support reimbursement and access decisions.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (HEOR, Medical Affairs, Government Affairs, Finance, and Commercial Operations) to align payer strategy and contracting approaches.
  • Lead Medicaid P&T and DUR engagement strategies, coordinating evidence generation, stakeholder testimony, and advocacy support to influence coverage decisions.
  • Monitor payer landscape dynamics, policy changes, and competitive environment to continuously refine account strategies and execution plans.
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech market access, with strong focus on Medicaid and regional payer account management.
  • Proven success in securing and maintaining formulary access for specialty, launch-stage, or innovative therapies.
  • Deep understanding of the US payer landscape, including Medicaid structures, utilization management, prior authorization, and reimbursement processes.
  • Strong ability to translate HEOR, clinical, and health economic data into clear and persuasive value propositions for payer audiences.
  • Experience working in launch or high-growth biotech environments with complex or evolving access strategies.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with ability to influence both external payer customers and internal leadership teams.
  • Experience in payer contracting, including value-based or outcomes-based agreements, is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Business, Public Health, Health Economics, Pharmacy, or related fields preferred.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to operate in highly matrixed environments.
  • Mission-driven mindset with interest in expanding access to mental health innovation.
Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary ranging from $220,000 to $270,000 USD annually
  • Eligibility for discretionary bonuses and equity participation
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage
  • Retirement and financial savings programs (where applicable)
  • Flexible remote work arrangement within the United States
  • Opportunity to work on a breakthrough mental health therapy with significant patient impact
  • Strong focus on mission-driven culture and innovation in healthcare
  • Exposure to senior leadership and cross-functional strategic decision-making.
