What You Will Do

  • Lead the development, implementation, and assessment of identity-based and intercultural programs, educational initiatives, and engagement experiences that celebrate diverse student identities, cultures, histories, and lived experiences and contribute to advancing an inclusive and welcoming campus culture at SIUE.
  • Coordinate and execute a comprehensive portfolio of affinity-based and cultural programming initiatives, including Affinity Welcome programs, Affinity Graduation Celebrations, and institution-wide educational and celebratory programming connected to nationally recognized History and Heritage Months and other cultural recognition initiatives.
  • Develop both active and passive programming opportunities designed to foster student connection, peer engagement, belonging, retention, and student success, including collaborative events, educational campaigns, and community-building experiences.
  • Supervise and train team members involved in belonging and engagement programming and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, student organizations, campus departments, and community partners to develop programs, strengthen partnerships, and advance inclusive excellence and student engagement efforts across the institution.
  • Support departmental, divisional, and pillar-wide initiatives, programs, events, and committees as needed, including occasional evening and weekend responsibilities.

FLSA: Exempt

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

Bachelors degree.
A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position. (Note: Masters Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position, may be required.

AND

2+ additional years experience developing, planning, and implementing events, workshops, and programs for a diverse population(s).

- Applicant must possess excellent coordination, collaboration, and superior communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to understand conceptual ideas and translate into practical programs.
- Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff in a university community.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work with individuals of diverse background and create a campus atmosphere that cultivates acceptance, mutual understanding, and belonging.
- Must be available for evening and weekend hours.

- Master's degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, College Student Personnel, Social Work, Sociology, Counseling, Psychology, or related field.
