Data Analyst (TMSIS) Job Description

Responsible for performing research and requirement analysis, creation and design of mapping documents, and presenting findings to appropriate team members, clients and vendors. Determines best practices and provides suggestions on how to improve current practices.

Required Skills:
1) Healthcare/business knowledge in one or more of the following areas: member, eligibility, TPL, claims processing, provider, pharmacy claims. TMSIS knowledge is highly preferred and will be given first preference.
2) Must analyze and figure out data issues independently by comparing with existing data and ETL models.
3) Good/Excellent SQL skills mandatory.
4) Good Oral/Written communication skills.
5) Must be eager and ambitious. Ability to quickly grasp new concepts, procedures, and technologies. To be successful, candidate will be required to quickly learn the Preferred Skills below and then work independently to fulfill job requirements.

Preferred Skills:
1) TMSIS working knowledge
2) Data Mapping experience
3) Data Analysis experience

The candidate is expected to be able to understand data and decode errors. Should be able to understand specifications and mapping documents, perform analysis on data to transformation requirements, work with ETL/Reporting/Conversion staff to ensure code has been developed that meets the business requirements documented, test the interface/report to ensure requirements are met, and work with other team members.

Duties and Responsibilities (essential duties and responsibilities in order of importance):
o Creates accurate mapping documents according to the mapping process.
o Works toward delivering a first draft solution to ETL/Reporting/Conversion for coding, by rapidly understanding which details about the mapping can be deferred.
o Presents analysis and design recommendations to lead MITA teams, customer and/or vendors into the acceptance of the design.
o Supports the ETL developers based on the mappings created.
o Works closely with configuration team and DBAs to ensure synchronicity of configuration to interfaces and mappings.
o Refines mapping documents, adding more detail and filling out deferred material as questions are resolved.
o Uses SQL, data models, data element dictionary and schema to perform data and business analysis.
o Creates unit test cases for area of responsibility.
o Validates test plan results that satisfy the detailed design goals.
o Updates technical specifications and mappings.
o Supports Unit Testing, System Integration Testing, System Testing, and User Acceptance Testing.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
o Analytical and data analysis skills within a technical environment preferably SQL.
o Healthcare knowledge within a claims processing environment preferably in Medicaid.
