Our operations are subject to extensive regulatory oversight and recurring inspections by agencies including CalEPA, California Air Resources Board (CARB), Water Board, OSHA, DOT, and other federal, state, and local agencies. CEAR also maintains multiple industry certifications, including R2, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 9001.

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Compliance & EHS Manager to lead and maintain CEAR’s Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), regulatory compliance, certification systems, audit readiness, and operational compliance programs.

Position Summary

This role is responsible for maintaining and continuously improving CEAR’s compliance management systems, policies, procedures, programs, records, and training programs to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements and certification standards.

This position requires a highly organized, hands-on professional with strong experience in environmental compliance, hazardous waste management, occupational safety, certification management, audit coordination, and regulatory inspections within industrial, recycling, manufacturing, or environmental services operations.

The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, manage multiple priorities, maintain audit-ready documentation, and support operational teams in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of environmental, health, safety, data security, and regulatory compliance programs.
  • Maintain and ensure ongoing compliance with R2, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 9001, NAID, and other applicable certification standards.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve EHS policies, procedures, training programs, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with EPA, CalEPA, CARB, Water Board, OSHA, DOT, hazardous waste, air quality, and related regulations.
  • Manage the hazardous waste management system to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Manage regulatory inspections, certification audits, customer audits, and third-party compliance assessments.
  • Prepare and submit required regulatory reports, permits, and compliance documentation.
  • Maintain environmental and operational recordkeeping systems to support audit readiness, inspections, and regulatory reporting.
  • Conduct internal audits, inspections, safety observations, risk assessments, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and nonconformances and perform root cause analysis.
  • Track corrective and preventive actions to ensure timely resolution.
  • Develop and conduct employee EHS and compliance training programs.
  • Support emergency preparedness programs, hazardous waste management, and operational compliance initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with operations and management teams to maintain continuous compliance.
  • Work with Operations to maintain readiness for Emergency Action Plans and procedures.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and implement updates to maintain continuous compliance.
  • Provide timely regulatory guidance and compliance support across all departments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in EHS, compliance, or regulatory management within industrial, recycling, manufacturing, or environmental operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, CalEPA, DOT, RCRA, hazardous waste, air quality, and other applicable environmental regulations.
  • Experience with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 9001, and R2 standards, including preparing for and participating in inspections and certification audits, is preferred.
  • Experience in electronic waste recycling or a related industry is preferred.
  • Strong technical writing, documentation management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Compensation and Schedule

  • Salary Range: $105,000-$150,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
  • Full-time onsite position.
  • Monday-Friday schedule.
