Quality Systems & Manufacturing Manager
Location: Columbus, OH
Job Type: Direct Hire
Starting Salary: $100,000/year (Higher salary available based on experience)
Work Split: Approximately 70% desk-based / 30% product and manufacturing floor
Seeking an experienced quality leader to oversee quality systems and manufacturing quality for a growing industrial operation. This position is responsible for strengthening the Quality Management System (QMS), improving product and process quality, maintaining compliance, and leading continuous improvement initiatives.
The role works closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and senior leadership across sheet metal fabrication, busbar fabrication, mechanical assembly, and related manufacturing processes.
Key ResponsibilitiesQuality Systems & Compliance
- Lead and improve the company's Quality Management System (QMS).
- Maintain compliance with ISO 9001 and applicable customer, regulatory, and industry requirements.
- Manage internal and external audits, management reviews, corrective actions, and quality documentation.
- Maintain effective document control, nonconformance, and change management processes.
- Standardize quality procedures and processes across manufacturing operations.
Manufacturing Quality
- Establish quality standards and process controls for sheet metal fabrication, busbar fabrication, mechanical assembly, and related operations.
- Reduce defects, rework, scrap, and customer complaints.
- Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions using structured problem-solving methods.
- Partner with Operations and Engineering to improve process capability and product quality.
- Develop quality metrics and reporting to track manufacturing performance.
Customer & Supplier Quality
- Serve as a senior escalation point for customer quality concerns and corrective actions.
- Support customer audits, quality reviews, and qualification activities.
- Develop supplier quality processes and performance metrics.
- Manage supplier corrective action activities and work with Engineering and Supply Chain to address supplier quality issues.
Leadership & Improvement
- Lead, mentor, and develop quality personnel.
- Establish staffing, organizational, and capability plans for the quality function.
- Build quality awareness and process discipline throughout the organization.
- Develop training programs and promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Communicate quality trends, risks, performance, and improvement initiatives to senior leadership.
- Track cost of quality, including scrap, rework, warranty claims, and customer complaints.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
- 10+ years of quality leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience leading quality systems, compliance programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of quality management, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and process improvement.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing organizational change.
- Strong communication, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Background in electrical equipment manufacturing, power distribution equipment, switchgear, control panels, industrial equipment, or related industries.
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, busbar fabrication, welding, machining, and mechanical assembly.
- Experience with engineer-to-order (ETO) or configure-to-order manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 systems and audit processes.
- Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, ASQ, or related quality certifications.
- Experience supporting mission-critical infrastructure, data center, utility, or industrial customers.
- Reduction in defects, rework, scrap, and customer quality issues.
- Improved corrective action closure and audit performance.
- Strong customer quality results and satisfaction.
- Effective QMS, process controls, and compliance.
- Development of a high-performing quality team.
- Measurable improvements in manufacturing performance and operational excellence.
